Great tips, buddy. I had never played hurling before, but my daughter is playing, and we've been following your tips/videos. We've both come on so much. Little things like aiming for the left post if right handed or the right if left handed. She was never told this and has been training a couple of years now. Shes only 11 but is pinging them over from 50 yards after some practice. Thanks again for the uploads

Hey Naoise, great material. Just wondering I have 3 kids all of them are right handed all of them naturally gripped the hurley with right hand closer to boss and left and closet to handle. I coached the older two to grip it the "right" way, right hand on top. Im thinking about leaving the third kid alone and letting him grip the other way around like baseballers do or golfers. What do you think? Are we coaching the grip the wrong way around in hurling, should we be coaching ithe grip the same as golf and baseball? Thanks
@naoiseclg5369
@naoiseclg5369 3 күн бұрын
Hi.. No, we’re definitely not coaching it the wrong way around because a baseball swing, or golf swing is completely different to hurling.. That’s the thing.. We need our wrists engaged far more.. So, to be able to strike, on the run off both sides, comfortably with a long or shortened grip, our dominant hand has to be the one closest to the handle and be in control of the hurl.. I’ve another video explaining the reasons why, on here

Why is a regular silothar too slow? I just hit it hard and it return fast, plus your catching hand gets used to 100% the same thing.

Hmm, unless you are excellerating (which you often do to get separation) you don't necessarily have to throw the ball forward more than you would standing. The ball will already move forward at the speed you are going. Am I wrong?
