Nice boats. How have you made the winches of the foresails sheet?
@jonathanwheeler562617 күн бұрын
Hell Timo, with Patrice I have tried several different systems. Currently all 3 sails are controlled from one sail winch. On Bergen I believe that the foresails are controlled using a continuous line below deck. Patrice is having an extra foresail fitted that will probably be controlled from a separate servo. I am still testing at the moment.

@@jonathanwheeler5626 I'm in the process of making a new sheet winch on main and on the mizzen. I would have attached a picture, but it doesn't seem to work on this youtube. It has a reel release so the boom can turn freely. How many boats y have done? Nice hobby, And how have you done the hulls.

Hi Timo, Bergen is plank on frame and Patrice is a one piece moulded hull

@jonathanwheeler562627 күн бұрын
Hi Eric, It is a re release, a couple of years old now. I recently rebuilt the entire rear end. The motor and esc are a cheap Amazon brushless setup running on 3s

Is it run with motor? Or by wind?
@jonathanwheeler562629 күн бұрын
Hello David, there is an onboard motor that can be used when there is no wind or to head upwind but I only use it on rare occasions. The boat is one hundred percent powered by sail in this clip.

Nice...👍 I lived in north Kent for 50 years and didn't realise that lake was there..! Just an observation, open the gap between the back of the jib boom and main mast to around 35mm when close hauled to get better air flow between the jib and main. I used to sail at the Barton Point lake on the Isle of Sheppy all year round, there is a nice cafe there where you can eat a baguette on their veranda while sailing the yacht, plus at the boat club at the Chatham Dockyard basin on a Sunday morning...🙂 All the best with your sailing...👍

Hello David, thank you for your comment. The water in Herne Bay is a bit shallow so I have to sail with short keel, but the water is fresh not salt. I will try and let the job out a bit thank you for the advice.

@@jonathanwheeler5626 My 65 cm yacht is an 8 year old Affinity which is a copy of the DF65. It has a full length keel so probably wouldn't have sailed there then sadly. I sail on lochs in Scotland now with my Affinity and a Kantun IOM, that definitely wouldn't sail on your nice lake...😊 Looking at your other videos, I ran an original Tamiya Rough Rider for years against 3 mate's and their Sand Scorchers...👍
