The stock klx gearing kinda sucks. I got 13/ 43 sprockets right now on mine, and it'll pull up that hill in second and still do 65 on the roads. Made it feel more like a dirtbike. It's underpowered and overweight but still a fun bike.
@notgamingwithmax

It might, I'm certain it could easily if it was dirt/rock/or clay but sand hills are a whole different animal. The extra weight doesn't help it in the sand. It was a super fun and capable bike for sure.

Are you running the 15t or 13t front sprocket? I'm also from Michigan and currently ride a YZ450f, but have been eying these as of late. Haven't found much for review videos, let alone reviews in Michigan sand. I'd be curious how a 13t front sprocket would compare to a 450 in regards to power. Also, are you running the stock tires? Thanks!
@notgamingwithmax
@notgamingwithmax 7 күн бұрын
In this video, I was running the stock 15T front sprocket. It did come with a 13T as well, but I didn't try it while I was up there. I did purchase a 14T and installed it, but I won't be back in Michigan for a few weeks to test it out. I would imagine that if you wanted to ride mainly singletrack, the 13T front sprocket would be the sweet spot. In my case, I'll probably do more two-track riding with this bike, so I opted for the 14T. I think the power delivery is very different from a YZ450F. It's very linear and smooth with no real peaks in the powerband. For sand riding and singletrack, I feel like these things go well together. The 15T is pretty tall. The bike has plenty of power, but with the 15T gearing, it felt kind of lazy even though it still runs with a KTM 500 with a get ECU from a roll. With the 15T, it would do a third-gear power wheelie, but you had to work at it a little. Now with the 14T, it comes up super easy in third. It still feels like a pretty tall gear, but I think the 14/48 gearing is the sweet spot if you plan to ride both on and off-road. I think with the 14T gearing, I could probably pull second without bogging too low on the B loop. I'll test it next time I go up there. As far as power, I think you won't be disappointed. From what I know, I believe the Beta 500 is the most uncorked street-legal 500/450 you can buy right now. It should have around 47-49 horsepower at the rear wheel on a dyno, and if that's not enough, you can get an FMF silencer and have them put in the straight pipe map. It doesn't require an ECU like KTMs, just a remap that the dealer can do. Also, yes, these were the stock tires. They worked pretty good. I don't plan on changing them.

Get rid of the NE1F needle it is simply crap, Its super short straight sector makes riding with low throttle openings difficult. Keep the 40 pj. Depending on your altitude get a Suzuki needle that fits (NECW/NEDW or NECH) and put it in clip 3, reduce main jet size and get out again. Unlike others, I don't think your bike sounds good.

Good video. I understand you have both a Rieju Ranger and a Beta Xtrainer. Similar bikes; why both? Does each excel at something the other one doesn't? I have a 2020 Xtrainer with an FMF Fatty, JD jet kit and suspension revalved/resprung by AMP. It works well in the tight stuff (I ride PA/MD/WV mountains) and the pipe and jetting have made it a lot more lively, while remaining tractable. But suspension improvements haven't fully addressed the bike's skittishness at higher speeds over choppy/rocky terrain. I understand the Ranger's KYBs do a better job in those conditions. Thanks for any comments!
@notgamingwithmax
@notgamingwithmax 15 күн бұрын
It just kind of worked out that way. I have a 21-year-old son, and I always hope he can find the time to go riding with me. So I keep a bike in reserve for him. I got the Xtrainer first and picked up a year-old Ranger for a fair deal later. Now, I've kind of taken over the Rieju and it will probably be my main ride for singletrack. Its KYB suspension handles some of the rockier terrain a little better. But I like them both; the Beta is a little more skittish at faster speeds, which isn't the case with the Ranger. I rode a 2024 Xtrainer with the expensive Beta aftermarket Ohlins suspension and I don't believe that helped the skittishness either. I might opt for a 300RR trade for the Xtrainer in the future. I really liked that bike at the demo day. When I purchased these I was just getting back into riding offroad and wasn't sure if I was ready for a 50hp 2 stroke. After the last few years, putting a bunch of seat time and doing the Beta Demo day I'm now ready. I still might do some mods like you did to my Xtrainer. Time will tell.

So I finally got my switch, installed it and took it for a short ride. Honestly, I could not notice any difference. I noticed the map switch only completes the circuit when in rain mode. So that would indicate it was already in sun mode if the switch was accurate. I reached out to my dealer and he seemed uncertain and told me the old map switches for the pro models were the opposite. I then reached out to CPD USA, the importer for these bikes and he in turn reached out to Rieju. He told me that he found out the ranger CDI is different from the pro model and only has one map so basically adding a switch does nothing. I'll tinker with it on my next ride but I think this is a bust for adding free power.

Awesome video. I’m sure with different weights the range will be effected. I just picked up a 72v 20ah lithium battery pack for our mx650 as well. Similar setup but without paying the e+c tax. They’re really expensive. Other than that, make sure you are buying a quality battery pack with a really good BMS. The antbms inside our pack lets us bluetooth into the pack and check health and voltages, impedance of the cells and all that. It lets you have a precise idea of how much the pack can take and how to tune your Kelly controller based on how much power the pack can discharge. Also keep in mind the 3kw-5kw motors cannot take ALL the juice ALL the time. I’ve seen these motors fail from too powerful a battery and controller setup. Either way, it’s great for the kiddos and if you throw a brake light and headlight on the razor the adults can take night cruises to the local pub on a “kids toy” without the law looking twice.

Thanks for the tips. Austin from electro and company hooked me up with the app to access the controller and we tested it at about 7000watt and it was just too much so we put it back to stock, seems to be the sweet spot for a stock MX650 for wheelies. We also added the 12v kit and a headlight recently. It's really neat. It's a shame, I have two of these units, but with my kid off at college and now moving onto working out of state they don't get used anymore. I'm actually considering putting them up for sale.

I had a KLX300 as my first small dual sport after being a sport bike and KLR650 rider for about 22 years. I bought my daughter an XT250 to learn on and had such a fun time when I rode it that I wanted a piece of that. Two weeks later is when I bought the KLX300. I got a membership to a dirt bike club in San Antonio, TX, with its own property, and started riding those two bikes out there and really learning how to ride in the dirt. I went from the KLX300 to a Honda CRF250RX and it was not a good transition because it's a cross country race bike and I'm not interested in that kind of riding. I went from the CRF250RX to a XTrainer a few months ago. What a bike! My daughter ended up deciding motorcycles aren't for her and I wanted another dual sport, but something a bit more than the XT250. I thought about getting another KLX300, and actually went to the dealership to get one, but they had a stock CRF450L with only 700 miles on it for about the same price and I thought it would be cool to get something different. The KLX300 was the perfect gateway for me to get into off road riding. The XTrainer is a solid upgrade for the off road part of the equation and I think the CRF450L is also a solid upgrade from the KLX300 for anyone more interested in the light ADV or BDR style riding. Just discovered your channel. I'd be interested in your experience with both the XTrainer and Rieju Ranger because I understood those bikes to be sort of filling the same niche.
@notgamingwithmax
@notgamingwithmax Ай бұрын
Yep the Xtrainer and Rieju Ranger pretty much fill the same niche market. They are very comparable bikes. I have plans to upgrade the Rieju with a FMF Gnarly exhaust in the near future. I'll make some videos after I do. WIthout going into too much detail the Xtrainer has more bottom end power and a more linear power band. The Rieju ranger has more hit in the midrange, a kickstart, a better seat plus an adjustable linkage so if your short it's easy to lower. But if your taller both bikes have a short seat to peg height which might make a tall persons knees hurt after a long day. I installed a seat concepts tall seat on my Xtrainer and the factory Rieju Mr pro seat with a seat concepts cover on my Rieju. Now both are about the same height as a RR and a MR pro. I'm very comfortable on both now. I agree with you on the KLX300. It's a great bike to start on. It can do so much and is alot of fun. Congrats on the CRF450l I hear once you install a aftermarket ECU it really wakes up the bike. I bet it's a blast. I have this KLX300 up for sale now. I decided I want to upgrade as well and am hoping to pick up a Beta 390 or 500rs in the near future. Years ago I had a 2007 KTM 450 EXC and it was a great bike, then around 5-7 years ago I sold off all my motorcycles because they weren't getting much use. Life was so busy back then. A few years later when my son was around 16 or so he started to get interested in electric motorcycles so we got one and then made two of our own and from there he got his M license and then a few dirt bikes and here we are the birth of this channel.

Hi there, I think the Rieju Ranger is a very good bike. After owning it for a while now, I haven't had any issues. It's easy to work on, and all the tech seems well-thought-out, with all the bolts easily accessible. I often compare it to my Beta Xtrainer since they have similar power. One thing to note is that I'm just over 6 feet tall, and both bikes needed a taller seat height for me to be comfortable. Otherwise, I'd really feel it in my knees and hips after a long ride. With the Beta, the stock seat was a 2x4, so I opted for the Seat Concepts tall seat. For the Rieju, I bought a Rieju MR Pro seat and had my dealer install a Seat Concepts cover on it. This raised the seat height over an inch on the Rieju. If you're on the shorter side, the Rieju might be perfect as the stock seat is actually pretty good. But for me now with the MR pro seat and cover, it's perfect and super comfortable. My Rieju Ranger also gets much better fuel range in stock form. I've never run either bike empty, but I know the Rieju can go about 50-60 miles before needing to switch to reserve. As far as places to ride. I haven't really gone into the UP yet. I know there are a few singletrack areas close to the border. You can use this map to find everything in Michigan. midnr.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=1710727ba3ec4c64928110fdb4f7799d I'd also recommend checking out Canonshot's gps files he's built over the years. He has lot's of locations in Michigan and Wisconsin. They might not be all singletrack but they typically use sections of them for his adventures. cannonshot.net/wp/category/gps/ I'm not sure what your budget is but you might also want to check out the Beta 390RS, I just did a beta demo day and tested it. I really liked it and it's probably the most user friendly power band on a 4 stroke. I highly suggest trying to attend a beta demo day. If you go and like the Xtrainer power you'll like the Rieju power. The Rieju has a little more hit in the midrange. Also, I feel like something like the 390RS might be better on your snowmobile type of trails. I hope this helps.

I'm thinking of buying a Ranger or Xtrainer, what are your thoughts on either, how do they compare against each other?
@notgamingwithmax
@notgamingwithmax 4 ай бұрын
They are both great bikes in my opinion. The Beta truly feels like your cheating when riding singletrack. The motor has all the power in the low to mid with tons of torque. It's geared perfect and the power is super linear and almost feels electric. The seat is horrible though and it does feel a little twitchy at higher speeds. The ranger Is great as well. It has a what feels like a lower peg to seat height so since I'm just over 6 feet it bothered my knees a little after a long day of up and down but since I've bought a MR racing seat and put a seat concepts cover on it and now it's perfect. The MR racing seat is about 1" taller than the ranger seat. The ranger has more midrange hit and a little taller gearing. The gearing is fine for normal singletrack riding but if you plan to do hard stuff like hard enduro you might want a smaller front sprocket. The ranger comes with a kick start which is nice because I did kill my battery once on the Beta so I've since installed the kick start on that bike as well. Overall I think anyone should be happy with either. The jetting is more finicky on the rieju though. I think this is related to the pipe they put on from the factory to choke the power. I will be getting a smart carb and a pipe this summer to unlock the full potential. If you have specific questions feel free to ask.

The pipe on the ranger will never allow the bike to have any top end. It’s designed for down low power. Swapping the pipe out for a gnarly, or a stock racing or pro pipe will give the bike a ton of power. I messed with a few needles on my 300 ranger, but nothing ever felt perfect. Tossed a Lectron on, and it’s a completely different bike. Incredibly responsive, and will lift the front wheel at ease in 1st & 2nd gear. My brother is riding a 2023 KTM 500 EXC and I am on a 2023 Beta Xtrainer. They both preformed flawlessly over the week we rode in Idaho.

Gotcha. Thanks. Have you found the relatively short range of the Xtrainer to be an issue? I will eventually get the larger tank for mine, but curious how far you could go on a tank. Haven't pushed mine yet. @@notgamingwithmax

@@prezzzrock Not really, I was in the same boat when we got to Idaho not knowing what my range would be. So I decided to carry a 1-gallon fuel bag and an MSR bottle on the front fender. It was overkill for sure and I quickly realized I didn't need the MSR bottle. I also never really used the 1-gallon fuel bag. Most of our rides were around 40 miles and we usually ate lunch after that and I would fill up if we were near a gas station. So if I had to guess I think my range would be mid 40's to low 50's depending on how much road riding we did at 45mph. I think that consumed a lot more fuel than the singletrack. Also, by the end of our trip, we found my brother's KTM 500 with his large capacity fuel tank barely sipped any gas so we could have always siphoned some of his if we had to. From now on I'll probably just bring the MSR fuel canister as an emergency backup knowing I can rely on my brothers fuel as a backup. A 2.9 gallon tank sure would be nice. If I ever go back I might consider one. Just to eliminate the range anxiety. I'll be honest I was worried a bit but I don't think I ever really needed to be.

Thank you for the reply and great info. Another benefit of the larger tank is the color. It's translucent, allowing for a quick side glance of fuel level. I read really good things about the fit and quality of the tank. Thanks again! Looking forward to your next trip! @@notgamingwithmax

what kit is this

It's the electro and company Ultimate 5000w Razor Kit 2.1. I think when I bought it, it might have been version 1 but it should be the same. We also added their headlights recently and they are so cool.

What’s the max speed on this thing
@notgamingwithmax
@notgamingwithmax 9 ай бұрын
With Max on it, he is able to go about 39.3MPH at a 79v state of charge which is probably 75-85% I'm guessing. This is with the stock 11tooth front sprocket.

Well played! That's some solid braaap right there. The trail really has just about every typical Idaho element there is. Such a joy riding out there for sure. Thanks for sharing and good job!

Thanks for the sub, I'm using a DJI Osmo action 3 with 4k30fps in rocksteady mode. I don't use any special color modes. I encode my video with davinci resolve using H.265 at a 70k variable bitrate. I like the way it looks, but I hear the DJI Osmo action 4 has a bigger sensor and can get more detail in the darker areas.

How do you compare the XTRAINER with the Rieju?
@notgamingwithmax
@notgamingwithmax 10 ай бұрын
I would say the biggest difference will be how the power is delivered. The power on the Xtrainer is delivered in a more linear fashion with more bottom-end grunt. The Ranger hits harder in the midrange with a little less on the bottom. The Beta's seat is a brick and horrible, The rieju's is comfy but has an overall shorter peg to seat height, you can always get the pro seat to raise it about an inch but it's not as comfy. If you are a shorter rider the Rieju will be more comfortable as the rear suspension is adjustable and can be lowered or raised from the factory. Also, the Rieju is pre mix fuel and the beta is oil injected. Either way works for me. But having the oil injection makes it easier if you refill at a gas station or borrow fuel from a buddy. I've had a few hundred miles on each now and they are both great for singletrack woods riding. The only real big gripe I have on either is the rear brake on the Beta from the factory is horrible. When I say horrible I mean the play in the lever. The pivot on the master cylinder has so much play the lever sits .5"-.75" higher than it should making it hard to set it in a position where using it while sitting and standing feels right. I pressed out the bushing on mine and replaced it with a tighter tolerance bushing and now it's much better. The stopping power is fantastic it was just that extra play that was making me not comfortable while riding. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. I'll be taking my Rieju to the trails again soon and will probably do an update video with the mods I've installed. My Rieju I think was jetted a little on the lean side from the factory so I'm gonna try and do some tuning to get some more bottom end out of it. We'll see how it goes.
