One tip that could come into play. When I know I am going to cut down a box I seal up the unmarked side first and then cut off the side that has the dimensions of the Box on it. One time I didn't do that and I was charged for the full dimension of the Box even though I cut it down in half

It would be helpful, especially for packs like the college barware glasses, to know what the final weight was. I ship glassware a lot and it would help my estimation skills tp know what your final packs weigh. Thanks so much for sharing.

I've been selling on eBay for over 20 years. The first thing I would do I would bubble wrap the items . I would sandwich them between two pieces of cardboard and then I would take the cardboard sides and use a poly bag and I would stay under the 21 inches I don't understand why this looks like such a project I've been doing it this way for over 20 years even before the surcharge. Again sandwich it between cardboard use bubble wrap then put it in the poly bag I used 24 by 24 poly bags and tape the loose ends to reach the 21 inch

Shipping Media: I used to wrap all the shipped media (Video Games. Music CDs, DVDs and even books) wrapped in scrap cardboard that way, for the same reason. Now I’ve changed over to corrugated packing cardboard that comes off round rolls in a manner similar to bubble wrap. I find it wraps around the hard edges better and unlike bubble, protects the corners of book and CDs cases better when shipped in a bubble mailer. If a book corner falls between 2 bubbles, there isn’t much protection for the product. Of course, really expensive media gets packed in a box.

I've recently switched to using scotch tape for securing the bubble wrap rather than packing tape. I'm finding that it works really well for me, and it's dirt cheap in bulk. Some brands do seem to stick better to bubble wrap than others though.

Knex, when you said to yourself: Did I do this right? I answered, no, turn the package 90 degrees and you will probably get the box to fit within the flap fold lines and have enough length to go around the box and you probably wouldn't have the gaps between the flaps either. LOL Of course, as the pack continued it looked like the Knex box was fairly square, so turning it wouldn't have really mattered much at all. But I do keep a few rolls of eBay colored tape around so when I have a pack like that, were there are those small void slits from the flaps, taping it with colored tape obscures the view of the product and void area. Another good packing video!

22” Surcharge has caused me to pack 21” long, wider boxes as well, when pre Sur-charge I’d just wrap cardboard around the item and send it flat packed. Got to roll with the postal changes to limit over charges & sur-charges when you can. 🙃😉

8 lbs of clock weights are a potential candidate to pack in a USPS Padded Flat Rate Bubble mailer, either in a few layers of bubble (wrapped in scrap cardboard) or even better, in a thin box, slide into the bubble mailer and you save the cost of the box. Of course, when comparing the FR mailer to Ground Advantage Cubic, the distance to travel plays a big part too. But since I'm west of Seattle, such packs always seem to go coast to coast. 😉

@i'm gonna pack it What tape are you using on your 3 inch dispensor? I'm having a heck of a time with mine. I have the same dispensor but the tape I have pulls the heck out of it, gets tape residue all over it, etc.

I'm the newbee box resizer who commented on the FB channel. Thanks for addressing my problems. I am practicing on second hand boxes for now and until I get a result that looks moderately presentable I will purchase boxes of the correct size. I have also found the new flat boxes take up much less room than all the second hand boxed that people have graciously given me.

If you are able, Lonnie, it would be interesting to hear the exact shipping cost of each package also. I know you stop to print the label before moving onto the next package, so maybe just add the cost details when you start the next package or something 😊

Another good cost savings on shipping the big book lots instead of the polymailers use one of the Home Depot bags. I ran out and bought a box when I saw you show them on Shed Flips and they work awesome for protecting dolls, books, so many things that could get water damaged. Can't beat the price on them either.

Thanks so much Lonnie. It may seem silly, but your recent videos detailing what size boxes you are using, help to streamline the chaos of an everything seller!...Have not used yet, but also noticed that Rakuten gives cash back for Zoro purchases. Was 12% cash back a few days ago. Nice chunk of change.

Thank you for the videos. Learning a ton. I do have a question though..... When you enter the box size into eBay do you enter the written measurements that are on the box such as 10x8x6 or do you do 10.25x8x6.25 (whatever the actual outer measurements are)?

I was just thinking. I wonder if you could just put 15oz for 15.7oz. the price is the same so there is no cost adjustment to be done. Unless they have started charging for not having the exact right weight even though its the same price bracket. 🤔

Way to go, Lonnie, on the dishes! I've learned from you on the nuances of how you pack and made better choices on my packing, such as the roll paper you are using from ZORO it's a great buy with the coupons they are sending every week. I use my credit card link to Zoro which is usually 7% to 10% extra cash back with the Zoro coupon being 15% to 20% I'm thrilled about it. I also have the 50lb paper ready to try for the heavy things. The bottoms and edges I use pool noodle strips on the bottom, edge and top because some of the dishes are so heavy. Happy packing!

Thank you for the tip on Pirate Ship for the between 15 oz & 1 lb. I just ran into that the other day and ate over $2. Wow, those typewriters really are a challenge! I am glad to see that you neutralized the keys this time. 🙂 Oops, forgot the paper in with the doll! She'll probably be fine. Sorry for the super-attention to what you are doing. I am fascinated by how you resize the boxestoo.
