A product called Terro comes in a little bottle and last a long time. One dime size or smaller drop in a small piece if cardboard and place where you see any ant trail or just ants and it is game over. One time application and done. They pack it back to the nest and it kills them all right quick. No reapeating applications like you have to do with borax even though I do use Borax around my garden for ants and termites.

You suggested to chisel off the wood but i tried with no result except for a cut in my finger. What tool do you suggest to cut a hole in the wooden frame? I'm imagining an electric saw?
