I am Indian General category male. I am not against reservation. After all the protest from SC/ST group, I found it necessary to share my opinion. I request you to share it as much as possible if you like it. My poor ST/ST countrymen, we general population are not threat to you. There is let say X amount of seat reserved for SC/ST. If that seat is occupied by so called underprivileged government officers(SC/ST) children who has got better facility that most of the general category people, then let me ask you who are at loss. A rickshaw puller or a poor SC/ST child will not be able to grab those seat if a gov officer who stay in city, having a decent salary of more than 10 lakhs per annum, gets the best coaching facility grabs your seat. We are not against reservation but it really feels painful when we see a son/daughter of IAS officer or A grade gazette officer getting admission in prestigious colleges or getting highly coveted job after studying for almost free by just securing a mere percentile/ marks and a General category guy whose family income is less than 2000 per month paying higher education fee still not getting same opportunity. I have studied in both IIT and IIM as well. I have seen my friends who belong to SC/ST category travelling in 1st class AC, spending money like anything, having both the parents earning collectively more than 20 LPA still getting scholarship of complete education fee and getting prestigious seats for just 10- 20 marks. We may hear some news in newspaper where we come to know that a poor rickshaw puller or newspaper seller son belonging to backward caste got admission in IITs or IIMs. But I will tell you that they are just 1 or 2 out of 10000. So You people need to decide who is your real threat. Please ask for the income based reservation among your caste itself otherwise you will just be there only and the one who is taking undue advantage will continue taking advantage. I ask you one thing. Will the so called SC/ST IAS officer marry a poor SC/ST boy or girl ? I know the answer will be a big NO. You are being discriminated by your own caste people. We really feel proud when a financially weak and backward category candidate gets opportunity to get quality education. I have seen a rickshaw puller whose life was completely changed by his daughter after cracking IIT. But if your own seat is taken by so called backward category rich candidate, how would you feel about that? So I want all the people who want reservation to end to please visit the villages and explain the benefit to these people so that they do not fall in trap of politician and rich so called dalit.
