I visited this museum in 2013 after finding out that my great grandfather and great-great-grandfather were both born there. At 2:13 of this video is the photograph of my great-great-grandfather, Calvin Ingrum, that I found while visiting the museum. He's the dark haired fellow on the right. I also found an old ribbon with the names of the Silver Plume hose company (what we now refer to as the fire department), of which Calvin was the captain. He may have even used the old water pump and hose reel that are on display there. Silver Plume was a silver mining town. He died in 1915 of black lung at the age of 45.

Not a fan of the wild animal sanctuaries enclosures, they are mostly just open fields, very barren with little cover in the way of trees and bushes which is what most of these animals like

Thank you so much for your video. The Wild Animal Sanctuary is one of my favorite places to visit. You can tell it was spring, lots of the animals were losing their winter fur. One of the things I love the most is the sense of peace and happiness you get from the animals. They came from abuse and neglect and now they get to live out the rest of their lives as free as they can be having been captive born. For people who see this video and haven't been to the Sanctuary yet - bring binoculars (most of the habitats are big), check the weather before going and dress appropriately, and if going in the summer arrive early in the day or in the late afternoon (the animals head for shade or their dens in the middle of the day when it's hot). In the fall they get pumpkins to play with, and that can be quite entertaining. Once when I was there, a tiger took his into his water tank and shredded it. He had a great time and when he was finished it looked like chunky pumpkin soup. The bears hibernate in the winter, but the other animals seem to enjoy the weather so there are often a lot of them out and about.
