I have been in here and will say the care is wonderful! the opaque gives you privacy given there's no bathroom only down the hallway and my nurse was fantastic in all around care, compassion, kindness and despite my utter confusion after my surgery she was amazing! Carla if you see this THANK YOU for the wonderful care I won't forget you!

What no one will tell you is an x-ray has radiation but a CT scan carries 200 or more times to radiation of an x-ray there should be more information with these procedures

HOw come my ct scan only came in 2D? I asked for a copy of the disc and they gave it to me. When you put it in the computer it runs a program called INFINNIT and then you click DICOM and all these slices come up but they are 2d.

annaknowsu That's a reasonable question. When the CT scan gets all the data from your body it is "optional", depends on what the physician wanted to look for, to get a 3D reconstruction or not. A 3D model represents a minimum 1 hour after work for the technician, that model that he showed needs to be worked after the patient left. Those 3D models need to be "Photoshoped" by the technician to look that awesome, it took to remove a lot of layers that were not "needed" or were not necessary to show, like muscle, vessels, etc. Hope I answered your question.

annaknowsu I'm a student radiographer - the scan work by having a xray tube (normal plain film xray effectively) rotate around the body and images are acquired many times from 360 degrees. The bed then moves through the scanner whilst doing this and a continuous "volume" of data is created and then reconstructed into a 2 dimensional slice. Each slice is not 0mm thick, they are normally up to 2mm thick and each slice overlaps the last. Each pixel of the slice is located through a series of complex computations and convolutions which places the location of each voxel and assigns it to a pixel on each slice. This may be a difficult concept to grasp. The 2D images you talk about are then generated, this is the conventional way a CT slice is interpreted (read) by a Radiologist, Reporting Radiographer or other qualified clinician. The 3D images shown in the video are more gimmicky than it appears and are infrequently used for interpretation (specific requests need to made for pseudo-3D images to be created as they take longer for the computer to generate). Whilst these images are generated on occasion, they are mostly used by surgeons for surgical planning. The "3D" images are not true 3D and are known as pseudo-3D as there is slight overlap and time delay between image acquisitions.
