Man cannot DO anything.

"God is to the soul as breath is to the body". This is Jacob Needleman's first sentence in his book "What is God?". We know that the body is dependant on breath. The body can't live without constantly being breathed. We can say that the breath that is being breathed on us keeps body and soul together. The breath is the link between the body (manifest aspect) and the soul (unmanifest aspect which can potentially completely inform the the manifest aspect we know as the body). OUr part in the divine set up is to e open and receptive to the breath while acting in the world. It may be that this is related to the verses of John 1:12-13 "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (13) Which were born, not of the blood , nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." The result of this can be seen to be "the Word made flesh" by the will/grace of God. When the breathing stops, the body is no longer suitable as a womb for the hidden nature of the soul to manifest in time and space. No longer can the Jesus of our being manifest through the density that we know as the form of the physical body. In one context the body can be said to be the temporal or manifest form that appears to the outer senses. This form we call the physical body is revealed to us by the five senses and the separate intellect (the mind that is based on separation of "out there" is the world and separate from that "out there" is me "in here". The soul as the knowing substance can know and it can identify and equally well it can know and disidentify. However the outer senses do not reveal that in the reality the body is serving as the womb of God. The outer senses are limited to knowing the body as a separate form until this knowing substance knows itself,but only when it has been recognized in light, the substance already having been distilled and purified by all the inner work we need to do on ourselves. As we work on distilling our lower natures and illusions, so in turn, the Light, which is called "the Light of lights' has real space in the chalice of the heart. 'As above, so below'" Also known as "on earth as it is in heaven". The Bible Genesis 2:7 says "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." Then also in the Bible John 1:1 says: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." In the "Discourses of Rumi", discourse 5 p. 33, Rumi says these words: "The body is like Mary. Every one of us has a Jesus within him, but until the pangs manifest in us our Jesus is not born. If the pangs never come, then Jesus rejoins his origin by the same secret path by which he came, leaving us bereft and without portion of him. The soul within you is needy, the flesh without is well fed: The devil gorges to spewing (The devil here can be seen as the inverted or distorted view and its consequences of living where the appetites and our values are under the influence of a sense of separation -from the One Reality and it's energy that has its own love and its wisdom- and so our appetites and values are distorted such that the body-mind complex loses its attunement and falls into a lower vibration that doesn't see the wholeness that is the Unity of the unmanifest and the manifest. That is to say the we fall into identification with conditioning such that, we are informed by a false or distorted view of Reality), Jamshid (the soul aspect of us) lacks even for bread. See now to the cure of your soul while Jesus is yet in earth; When Jesus returns to heaven all hope of your cure will have fled." end quote So what is the question we need to ask ourselves to put us into the way of living that feeds the soul and awakens us to see Reality as it is rather than through a glass darkly, i.e., remaining identified with the conditioned aspect of the knowing substance that sees itself as separate from God or The One Reality?

I think the point here is that sex is a function of our animal mechanicalness, or better a type of incessant drive that loses control. I tend to romanticize my sex life like the cinema shows us, but at the same time I want to feel uninhibited desire I can satisfy. It creates a friction, which can be useful but frustrating. I dont see an easy solution. Sexual jealousy is also a very nasty, painful emotion.

You know... this makes little sense. I am opposed to this immediately. First of all, knowledge being material, that is totally true. I see others oppose it on the comments but knowledge is the result of neurons in the brain, which is mechanical and repetitive. However, knowledge itseld being limited to a few people seems absurd? Does it not? There are two ways to interpret it, both ways which I dont see working. Either it's knowledge as in basic, memorisation and accumilation of words, ideas and facts. This being limited to a few people is still absurd. Whether I alone read a book, or 5 other people read it stimultaneously makes no difference to my own understanding no? The second way of interpreting is "divine knowledge". Similarly, something divine being limited is absurd. Is divinity not eternal and limitless? Totally immeasurable. Moreover, the idea of... the world, and humanity being designed for certaim people only to be intelligent (as in have the possibility of divine crystallisations forming within them) is again absurd... and cruel no? Cruel specially when coming from a supposed all loving creator. No. I cant accept that.

Contorting oneself to try to make the best sense out of Iron Age words and ideas expressed by peasants in a distant desert is arguably a waste of time. Truth and wisdom and insight is available right now, right here, to anyone who turns toward it. Who needs a book to teach you to breathe?

Gurdjieff chose to work with the mental, intellectual people ; that´s why he had many problems, and the biggest part of his students/disciples had a second version of what personality is. All of them, especially Ouspensky, said that that we were born with the essence. Never. we are born with the first personality, inherited from the planet, country, city, father-mother, and other lost pieces of thought. Second personality is the mix ot those traits, plus acquired experience, life, courses, education. Essence will come only when the identification goes to zero movement, when observation became so strong, that mind goes always still, silent. we know that ALL his students were great intellectuals, teachers, philosophers, mathematicians, artists, musicians, spies, military people: their ego was as strong and cristalized as a stone . Good writers, but heart was very far, they never spoke references to the dervish movements, the shortest way. So they died big heads. Thanks for the video, excellent.
