Hey I have a question. I was thinking about getting one of these riva racing rear kits for my 2024 Yamaha vx cruiser. And I was wondering how much did it cost to install it for you?
@boostedfiveoh9 күн бұрын
@mrpog-ge4kb I installed it myself and it was a real headache. I would recommend having a shop do it that does them often. It's worth the money whatever they charge bc it's so hard to reach down through the engine bay to the hull. And also you get one shot at drilling the hole for the exhaust and I drilled mine slightly too small then had to ream it out and then my bolts wouldn't thread into the bracket so I had to drill the threads out and put a nut on the inside which is difficult to reach. I won't be doing that again lol.

Not sure, but I thought "Picklefork hull" referred to hydroplanes. This might be a tunnel hull, with full length sponsons. I could be wrong, because the center of a raised hull might not be the best place for the intake grate. I'd like the owner to respond.

Have you found any performance difference with the oil separator and the air intake? Like hp increase, and mpg increase? And also have tou noticed that the engine runs healthier?
@boostedfiveoh3 ай бұрын
No noticeably performance difference. The separator is mostly just to minimize the oil burnt in the combustion chamber. The air intake isn't enough of a power difference to notice it. If you combine full exhaust and tune you'll get a noticeable difference. I haven't got that far yet lol. I would say the oil separator will help keep the engine running healthy down the road. Just hit a lil over 108k miles.

The Fel-Pro 35651 gasket is an aftermarket piece that helps keep the seal when the thermostat's gasket flattens out. After about 6 months or so the thermostat's gasket will typically crap out on everyone from it heating up and flattening down. I just had the exact same issue on my wife's 2007 Wrangler. When it comes down to it, if the thermostat is working properly (but leaking right there), you apparently can just add the $9 Fel-Pro 35651 gasket and you're good to go. I did exactly as you did. Due to the fact that I had it all taken apart, I added the 35651 and the new thermostat. Bled/burped the system with the cold engine and the radiator's cap off, added a tad bit more coolant, and she was all good.
@boostedfiveoh7 ай бұрын
Awesome! Thanks for the confirmation on the gasket. I still have my gasket just in case, but so far, no leaks from the thermostat housing. My radiator problems are another story.
@kojiki885 ай бұрын
I replaced the thermostat and after a few weeks it started leaking again. Gasket 35651 goes on the block housing than the thermostat on top? I may just buy a new thermostat and throw that gasket as well. Thank you
@boostedfiveoh5 ай бұрын
@@kojiki88 Thanks for the update! My radiator has been leaking too, so now that I've finally fixed the radiator, I'm leaking coolant out of the thermostat housing enough that it has become noticeable. I'm going to have to put that gasket on the thermostat house also.
@nathandykema76318 ай бұрын
After spilling coolant out of the upper hose like that, is there any burping process that needs to happen? Or does the system burp itself?
@boostedfiveoh8 ай бұрын
You can burp the system once you're finished by starting the vehicle with the radiator cap off. Only do this from a cold start, run it for a minute or two with the radiator cap off, when your done re install the cap and you should be good to go. Add some radiator fluid if needed during the process.

Been looking at these in a 305/40/22 for the wife’s Denali XL Yukon. How do they handle in the rain and on wet roads? The 305/40 is about an inch or more wider than her 285/45s so just curious how they tread off water.
@boostedfiveoh8 ай бұрын
Mine have done very well in the rain and wet roads. Even handled well in the lighter snow, less than 5 inches was no problem, until I got to an unplowed road that was probably over 8 inches deep. Still made it through the deeper snow even though I thought I was going to get stuck. Not recommended for deeper snow

@@boostedfiveoh we’ve got corsa exhaust on her xl Denali so I’m not too worried about noise as long as their not like super swampers lol. It being heavier hopefully it will do well with the extra weight on wet roads. Just kinda spooked me when I read those few reviews about issues on wet roads.
@boostedfiveoh8 ай бұрын
@dommeister4004 definitely not like super swampers lol. I couldn't even hear the road noise until people started complaining on my video. I think you'll be fine since you do have that weight over the rear tires. I feel like a truck bed with no weight may have some traction issues no matter what tires you are running. I've had multiple trucks with all different tires and all the trucks would spin the tires fairly easy in the rain.
