People keep talking about jeans but nearly all of my pants regardless of the fabric do this and I’m currently wearing high waisted tights that are giving me about three inches of extra crotch too. Don’t know why that happens except my guess is that because I have such a short torso there isn’t enough torso length to shorten the distance of the crotch area. That’s my best guess because this seems to impact all types of people regardless of pant fit and person size as I’m normal healthy weight of 115 at 5’7 with a regular more muscular butt so I don’t have too much in the trunk that could be a factor too

I saw this heading...and wow!! I'm 69 nearly, I'm an average to good sewer, I can make my clothes and lots of patchwork for charity.... but yes, an extended family member"...asked in the past to do her wedding dress, when I just had met her dad (that I did marry later, and 17 years later we strill are) ) ..hems, ..- when I hardly knew her..and still she hasnt made the effort to get to know me- 17 years alter..I dont think that paying for the dress would even cross her mind..only for free....I've learnt over the years. Who appreciates my work and who doesn't. I had 15 projects in line at one stage...it all takes time, that my beautiful husband has to help in house work and cooking etc..otherwise it wouldn't get finished..non- sewers don't realise how long it takes to sew anything! <3 Im joining your chanel now <3

I am curious as to why would you be hesitant to remove the stitch plate? That give you better access to the lint below, to the left and behind the feed dogs. Without removing the plate, you are only doing a superficial cleaning of that area. The vacuum helps some but not enough. Also removing the bottom plate will let you clean out all the lint; broken needles etc. that fall down.

I am a trained tailor this is the only alteration we never covered. In my 23 years this week was the first time I had someone that needed this alteration. So glad I found this video, this is what I thought needed to be done and glad you had this so I knew for sure I was thinking correctly. Would have been bad to do the alteration wrong and ruin 6 pairs of pants. Thank you.

The 'seam' that goes between the legs is called the _rise_ . You have a front rise (that goes from about the waist to the middle crotch and is shorter) and the rear rise (which goes from waist to middle crotch and is the longest) Thanks sooooo much for this video. It was necessary today, April 27, 2024.

Did you mark the line as a curve from the 6” out mark to the center line or was it a straight line from point to point? It’s hard to tell with the chalk line so faint. Thanks for the video- i have to raise the crotch in my bf’s work pants and needed some help on technique. 😊

It is so good to watch someone who know what they are doing. So many people on KZfaq don't know the name of anything they are doing, they don't know how to measure, don't even know the name of fraying fabric, they call it these little things. Ask them what is a selvedge and they don't know. They need to take some lessons before they start trying to teach.
