A question for a Japanese person, please!: When a train attendant bows down to a passenger, for example when he is alighting, what is the correct etiquette: to bow back or not to bow back at all?
@funsolotrip66028 күн бұрын
Hello! I always nod to the crew when I get off the train. It's not required etiquette, but they're probably happy if you do.🙂
@dr.francodebellefort42098 күн бұрын
@@funsolotrip6602 A nod and a smile then, maybe as a means to acknowledge and thank the attendant, would suffice. No need to bow back all the way. I asked because for us non-Japanese it is sometimes difficult to know exactly when it is appropriate to bow down and when it is not. ... My feeling is that perhaps we tend to overdo it, which might look rather ridiculous sometimes in the eyes of the locals! Cheers for your advice and happy travels!!!
Ok I could be hallucinating but I am pretty sure I saw the dancing bacon crew taking selfies behind you at the entrance in Tokyo station.

All the websites are crap to work with if you dont speak japanese. The best is alway the statement: Please call to make a reservation. Me: its 2024.....

@@funsolotrip6602 I will. I’ve always love trains and would love to travel on at least one again someday but for now family and family matters come first.
