Nice review. Yes the 996 is relatively cheap compared to other models, but any car that is 25 years old is going to require some maintenance. A pre purchase inspection is a must before buying one of these.

Thanks for another really thoughtful video. I've been looking at several variations of the pepsi. This timex is certainly nice looking. I also looked at the seiko and the Tudor. Again all really nice watches with a similar look. But today I bought the rolex... Just because my other rolex are so reliable and great in so many ways. I don't think anyone will notice it but somehow these classic rolex designs just make me enjoy the day a little bit more.

Great review. I agree with you completely that it's a really perfect classic. I've stopped buying watches as I only have one wrist. Enjoying various rolex and omega and even one gold patek. But today... Lol... I found one of these in really excellent condition and for a great price. Placed a deposit on it and will purchase it tomorrow. Your video makes me feel even more excited. Thank you.

I’ve been spoiled driving an s2000 CR and it’s the longest period of car ownership I’ve ever had. I have yet to find anything remotely close to a pure and raw driving experience the CR offers, but the KZfaq algo must have picked up on it and keeps recommending me boxster spider videos. This seems like the perfect car and I’m in love. Sounds like a mid-engine version of my CR with nearly 100hp more, I am SOLD!

Great video, but I have to disagree about servicing an inexpensive mechanical movement. If the watch is a keepsake and you want to replace the movement, even if it costs the price of the watch, it is still worth it. Compare what it costs to service a luxury watch like Rolex or Patek, so the $200 to replace a movement is well worth it. Some places will even charge less.

Guards red looks really great on the 996, exactly what i'd look for if i ever end up getting one once they're old enough to qualify for old timer plates/tax rates (at the normal rate, a 996 is taxed 2500 euro annually here due to engine size and emissions + 3500 euro registration fee. 30+ year old cars pay 120 euro annually and registration is 53 euro), i could afford the normal tax rates but as someone who puts like 4000 miles on the odometer in a year i couldn't possibly letting the government fleece me out of THAT much money...

The Tudor Date+Day is a pretty great watch. I mean, you’re right - the ETA serviceability and the risk free wearing experience are just a blessing. I find the full day so useful because it’s so legible at a glance, same with cyclops date. I have the full silver, smooth bezel 76200 and it so stealthy, clean and pretty to look at. Nice work on the video too! Thanks, I enjoyed it.

@@maximus3511 they may be 20 years old, but they are still useful and aesthetically beautiful. Personally, I much prefer my pre-ceramic GMT over the modern version. The modern version has too beefy of a case for me and looks too flashy. I like the understated aesthetic of mine. It also keeps perfect time and hasn’t missed a beat. In the world of watches, great pieces stand the test of time. The 16710 has aged like a fine wine.

whats the price difference between them?
@Time-Driven
@Time-Driven 3 ай бұрын
Depends on condition, spec, etc. Exiges especially can be all over the place regarding price. Generally speaking, the Exige goes for about twice the price of the Elise. Elises typically sell between $35-50K and Exiges from maybe $60-85K, but again those are pretty loose figures.

Which would you keep between your spyder and Elise? 🙏
@Time-Driven
@Time-Driven 3 ай бұрын
This is a great question! I really love both. The Lotus is more compromised, raw, and exciting. The Spyder is more refined, well-built, and easier to live with. The Elise is special because it was my first special sports car, but the Spyder is admittedly my favorite driving car I’ve ever owned. If I could only keep one, I’d probably go with the Spyder, but they’re both outstanding cars and will be keepers! Thanks for the question. Cheers!

I love all of the Porsche spyders. The 718 is the most powerfull and better looking, the 981 sounds the best, but the 987 is the purest car to drive. Simple Elegant looking drivers car with no gimmicks but with enough power to exploit and have real fun with. As for the roof...its a Spyder not a convertible, and the car looks superb with roof on or off. One of the Best Porsche products in the modern era imo.

It is a beautiful car, no question. I was going to buy one and found online a car in virtually new condition driven less than 14,000 km. It was expensive (€79,000) but I was ready to buy and flew from Marseille to Frankfurt to check it out. During the test drive it started to rain heavily and in areas where the roof met the body and windows it leaked. After 10 minutes I had enough and returned to the dealer not soaking but wet. I ended up buying a Carrera S, it’s a totally different car but in my opinion a more useable second car. To those that own and love 987 Spyders I salute you for your commitment to owning and living with a “pure” sports car
