I’m flabbergasted that they liked this so much. Arcadian is a horror movie for teeny boppers. It’s also ridiculously amateur and the creature scenes are as ineptly shot as anything I’ve seen in the last decade. Cage is out of most of it, leaving us with these obnoxious kids who are too dumb to function, even the smart one is an idiot. Also, a kid fall down a huge cavern and smacks his head, but he’s fine. That when you know absolutely none of the kids are in danger. It’s a movie for babies. Staggered that these two found any merit in it

"X-Files and TNG" insert THIS IS LITERALLY ME meme Two of the greatest shows of all time and they ruled my childhood in the 90's. Funniest thing is, at first when I heard 6:59 you talking about writing X-Files fanfiction I was like "lol what a nerd" and a second later my synapses lightened up, my brain farted, I experienced a flashback as livid as the memories of watching the show with my family... I DID WRITE X-FILES FANFICTION AS A KID, TOO! I totally forgot about it, blocked it out of my memory for 30 years, but I definitely did that. Now I feel like one of these abductees from the show that blanked the aliens out from their minds and only remembered them when something triggered their memory... My fanfic was a sequel to "Darkness Falls" because I loved that episode so much. And of course the plot happened in my hometown, because as a kid there's nothing more exciting than bringing your beloved TV characters right there where you lived. I also wrote TNG fanfics. Well, more like "TNG-era" fanfic, because my stories were about another crew, consisting of my friends from school. I don't need to say that I was the captain, right..? Well, I totally was the captain. What can I say, I was 12. I was also writing an X-Files spoof for my school paper published bi-monthly for like 3 years. Me and my buddy from my class were the "agents" and we investigated a whole bunch of "cases", each related to some weird stuff happening in our school. Like: the mystery of the model skeleton from biology class being responsible for stealing student's lunches. Or: the mystery of a slipper bag (each student was required to change their schoes in our school) that someone threw on the roof of the gym, that ended up infested with mutated bugs from outer space. Lots of stuff inspired by "Graveyard School" books by Tom B. Stone... Oh the memories.

This is one of the *VERY* few episodes where Mulder's dual reputation as a genius profiler and well-known lunatic would make a certain degree of sense in a sloppily-written police proceedural rather than a sci-fi show. Suppose Mulder knew that Roche could be pushed into seeking out a final victim if given the opportunity and suicide-by-cop if caught red-handed. Forget entrapment and endangerment of a child; that's first-degree murder. The only way to "protect" Sculley and Skinner from being accused of conspiracy charges would be to not tell them before and never admit to it after. Mulder could protect himself simply by staying awake for 80+ hours on speed and using the same "fuge state" excuse Walter White used in Breaking Bad.

So, I know I'm crazy late, but there is in fact an aspect of the military industrial complex dedicated to entertainment. See any time military equipment is used in a movie and the military is shown as the good guys/cool dudes. I feel like this was covered by Cracked and Cody Johnston.

I believe that the fact that it was a prequel hurt it. Prequels suffer from not being able to truly surprise you because you are pretty much guaranteed that if a character wasn't in the original then they will die in the prequel, and ultimately the story has to end in a way that just puts it at the beginning of the earlier movie. So it is just hard to get excited about a movie that we already know where it will end up. A Furiosa prequel movie means she will never truly be in danger because we know she survives to the next movie.

I just noticed the guys have this weird habit where when discussing these trailers, they'll often cite the works of the film's writer or director and completely forget to say their actual name. What's with that? The writer of all those X-Mens? The I AM LEGEND director? The SILENT HILL director? Bueller?
