What if you try starting from 0 without hall sensors? The wheel working at higher speeds without sensors is not a big deal..it´s called sensorless closed loop operation and you basically use the back-emf to calculate rotor position...no Halls needed but it doesn´t work from standstill.

You can start from the 0 no problem. They manage to switch between sensor and sensorless without losing the motor position. Sensorless control is available for a few years by now, in euc it is new. The only draw back is reduced torque in low rpm
