I can never sit through this scene without crying. Finding strength in kindness and empathy has never been so perfectly shown as it is here. "Please...be kind." I love that line so much.

This movie felt like someone reached down into the core of me, held the hand of the angry, suicidal teenager I used to be, and validated her choice to let go of her pain and depression and try to just be kind. If you choose to see the world through kinder eyes and meet it with compassion, especially when you're scared and feel like nothing matters, you'll find that there's so much more to this world than you first thought, and so much to live for, even if those somethings are the little fleeting moments of clarity and joy in an otherwise chaotic existence. Waymond's the hero we all need at some point in our lives, but rarely feel like we deserve.

Within the first 5 mins of this movie, when Waymond was shown dancing with the old man in the laundromat, I hoped to God Evelyn would find her way back to this man 😭🩷

This is the kind of thinking that got me through the worst parts of my life. I always felt stupid, and naive for thinking too positively and it made me feel lesser than anyone else. I don’t think I’ve ever cried as much as when I heard these lines. I felt validated, and that I was doing the right thing, and it felt like all the effort up to this point wasn’t for nothing. I know my purpose in this world. There’s so much shit going on everywhere around us, and I’d rather spread kindness and show people that it’s not all bad. I’m very lonely on this journey, but I’ll die alone if I have to. I never want to change

As an emotionally sensitive person who's often been perceived as "soft" or "naive" or "innocent", this scene helped me realize that's actually been my strength. I don't do it as a capitulation or fallback. I do it with purpose and awareness and intention. This is how I fight.

When Waymond says 'Somehow, this feels like it's all my fault,' you can see Evelynn, even in her fugued-out state, take a half-step towards him as though to try and protect him. She always knew the answer.

This movie changed my life. I used to be a very angry person because of what I have been and gone through in life. I always thought that since life is really a bitch, you survive by being equally cruel. I used to think that my anger and hate gives me motivation and for a while it really does. But it hurts me also as much as it does the other person. So I embarked on a journey to learn to tame my anger and respond with kindess. When people are unkind to you, you have to tell yourself that you do not want to be as hateful as they are.

I saw this again, after seeing it in theaters, the day before the Oscars and I’m fucking glad Ke Huy Quan won that Oscar and I’m so happy to see him be a megastar now with all his selfies he’s taken with people like Sir Patrick Stewart or Andrew Garfield, I hope his phone doesn’t stop ringing and wish him a bright and amazing career after learning he waited for a job for 20 years.

"When I choose to see the good side of things, I'm not being naive. It is strategic and necessary." When I watched this movie with my girlfriend, this was the line that broke me, man. It felt like all the sadness I'd been through living with a pessimistic mother that constantly seemed to drain my own hope when it came to my struggles with mental health, it felt like that struggle was valid all along. Waymond as a character genuinely made me feel validated for all the ways I didn't fit Asian masculinity.
