I remember the first time I saw it in a translated edition of Janson's History of Art a lifetime ago. It blew my mind and changed the way I look at art and life in general. I couldn't believe my luck when I moved to Detroit and realized it was in the DIA. Thank you for a great video. Mr. Ruskin must have been blind!

Sais a person with three weird nostalgic playlists, reliving worn out pop culture.
@ttaibe
@ttaibe 24 күн бұрын
@@Nick-sl7zc I think it's weird what you base your opinion on. As it if it matters what kind of playlists I may or may not have. Just check KZfaq. People call anything iconic now a day's. It's so over used that it has become meaningless. Same goes for art and artist. Art used to be significant in some way. Now it is just anything that is supposedly well made. My opinion have little to do with these armours. It is just that often when I see these words used on KZfaq I just stop listening kind of. These armours are nice, and they might even be art. I don't see them as such.

It fills my heart with pride to witness the genius of Black young men and women, in any medium. The realism of your images blows my mind. I would also enjoy viewing the photography genius of Brother Moore's wife's photography. In the near future I hope to curate a photography exhibit of elders of Atlanta areas African-American churches. I am working out the details now. Blessings, Brother Moore; continue inspiring others, especially youth and young adults of "all flavors." Brother Bob Lee, PhD - Advanced amateur photographer.

WOW!……what a wonderful piece of art to showcase for this 73 Year Old Happy Ager whose love of museums arm-chairing these days has grown exponentially by excellence in presenting such as this…..I will surely find this as a jumping off place for this forever life-long learner…..

Looking for Graham for some verification of biographical facts for my research. He offered me a Walker Art Center Show in 1982 while I was on a Bush Fellowship and living at the Cite International des Art in Paris, France. My abusive and controlling artist spouse at that time forced me to decline this amazing opportunity; back then, I was not confident enough to resist his threats. If you know how to contact Graham, Please share it with me or ask him to contact me. Sincerely, Laura Blau, AIA, at BluPath Design Inc., Philadelphia, PA

@@eti313 I know, right. Totally ruined my day and enjoyment of the vid, too. It was almost as bad as the time i found one blade of grass in my front yard that was longer then the rest after mowing with a lawnmower that advertises that only one pass will ever be necessary. Man, that was a terrible day. Spent parts of the next 3 days posting on reviews about the epic failure of that lawnmower. It still bothers me to this day.....and now I have to add this misleading youtube title to the list of things that causes me to lose sleep at night. dang it, how am i ever going to do a good day's work again, when i can never, ever, ever again get a good night's sleep. argh

Utterly childish garbage like most pieces that have come from that continent. Barely even "folk art". And yet we're always asked to consider these types of artifacts to be the equivalent to elevated Western genuine art.

That has to be a cool feeling for a father working at a museum and walking past your son's work hanging on the wall. He must feel very proud of his son's achievements. It must be a very surreal feeling for both of them.
