Hi everyone. I'm new to the EV world but wanted to make sure I understand all this info. I'm interested in a 2017 Leaf SV and it has about 39,000 miles and the charge shows 86% with 82 miles to go with 12 bars. Does this mean this car could have been reset or even if the battery is reset how long does it take to show the true bars? Thanks.
@stevenbrice1681 Жыл бұрын
Very interesting! I have been seeing some used 2011/12 leafs lately with 10 bar battery life spans.. seems a bit off when the car has 120K miles on it.. But I guess maybe these cars could have had their packs replaced by the dealer. But I dont see that mentioned in the carfax reports..

I have change about 7 cells /modules in my leaf and its not balancing my battery. So at a full charge the battery show 100% 140 miles but actually I do get 43 miles. Can you me clear the old software to solve this problems?
@philipmitchell54112 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately the BMS can only balance cells which are close in voltage. If they are to far apart, you will have to remove them and balance them manually. Vehicle software probably won’t help in this situation

Not sure that some of your gripes aren't actually positive features. Some countries undertaking is legal so it needs to be an option. The next gen will need to have integrated SatNav with traffic view / consideration so that overtaking can work safely. It looks to me like we are creating a generation of unskilled drivers which is unlikely to end well. Always going to be risky unless 100% of cars don't have the same standard of system.

I might be wrong but I believe you can check the batteries using an ODB Wi fi or Bluetooth transmitter (available on line) and use the leaf spy app which shows the health of each cell and gives an overall health rating as a percentage. I don't think this can be reset as its talking directly to the battery pack not via the on board computer. so if serious about checking the batteries before you buy this is a way to do it. If the seller objects then it may be worth walking away.

First 360 video ive seen on youtube. Lots of good info here. I have a 2011 and old 2013 gen leaf. The infotainment is dire on both. Can't even remove the headunit due to ac integrations which is a shame. Magnet mount ipads/tablets worries me as they can become projectiles in crashes which can kill people/kids. Nonetheless ive considered doing this. Not actually a fan of apple though. I think carplay/android auto/hdmi input to the existing car lcd should become standard in new cars so car companies dont waste time and money making awful poorly supported systems. Nissan's map support is atrocious. Leaf spy looks good on the that ipad.

The useful information in this video is about 2 minutes long. It was painful to hear this guy drone on for nearly 30 minutes. Also "hack" implies something technical and useful. Hanging something on the steering wheel takes the average person 30 seconds to try and 20 seconds to see that it is TOO DANGEROUS!!!

Does anyone know if the Leaf Spy app would show if the battery was reset?
@pioneer77777773 жыл бұрын
Also, you mention Nissan "should have done this, considering how inexpensive it is". Well, the licensing costs to get Apple on board in any official way may be astronomical. I assume that's why no other manufacturer ever has done this. Wonder how much it costs to even just do Android Auto and CarPlay let alone fully sticking an iPad on there and getting it all to play nicely.

Can the tool remove just one bar? Or if I see 11 bars, its most likely to be a genuine reading? Thank you so much for this video
@grumpyyoungguyreviews40603 жыл бұрын
The tool simply replicates the OE tool (Nissan Consult). It resets the capacity data stored in the BMS and dashboard. It doesn’t reset the range reading, only the number of bars. If this was done on a old battery, after a few charges it would begin to drop
@boisnae77603 жыл бұрын
@@grumpyyoungguyreviews4060 Thank you for your response. I am finding it difficult to know how I could ask a dealership to show me the battery health. Worried they have the tool.
@grumpyyoungguyreviews40603 жыл бұрын
@@boisnae7760 they either won’t have the tool, or they will have no idea the function exists (or most likely both) The function isn’t a cheat, it’s used for when the battery is replaced. Use the range when fully charged as a guide. If it said 60 miles and had 12 bars then it’s either been driven very hard on the last ‘tank’, or the health is down. 👍🏻

Thank you for this honest review with the "hands on assist" technology that even Tesla uses. Tesla fanboys wont admit this but it is ANNOYING AS HELL. It's a constant distraction, and you're right it feels like you are fighting something when the wheel is moving around under your palm. Imagine regular cruise control that we all have today, but you have to keep your foot on the pedal! You'd always be thinking about your foot down there especially when you feel the pedal moving. GM SuperCruise and Comma AI are the only true "autopilot" systems that you can play hands off.

Hey, that map shows you're in an island of some kind. What's with that? Brilliant camera choice. Didn't know that YT supported that format. What make and model is it? I work at HP, and have a PV ElitePad I was going to use for this. Didn't want to supercool it by magnetising to the vents. My 2011 Leaf's mirror is better positioned, but I might try to bolt a dedicated mount to the dash. I don't like that Spotify doesn't let me play my own music unless I pay. (Something about cold, dead fingers would fit here.) Leafspy? What are you using to get the data out? My wife bought a FIXD for me, but it's not compatible with the Leaf even thought the buggers have the Leaf listed on their site, with instructions on how to find the OBDII connector.
