Hey man, this is Mike Sullivan, your newest subscriber from Saint Charles, Missouri (U.S.A.) ! I am having a wiring problem in my doublewide mobile home! 2 month's ago my room mate plugged in a space heater in her bedroom and it knocked out all the wall receptacle's from her room all the way into the livingroom, the ceiling fan and the switch that runs the outside porch light! I checked the breaker box and the breaker was still in the on position so I turned it off then on again to reset it but nothing happened! I decided to pull the double 15 amp breaker and replace it with a new one from Home Depot. It worked! Everything was working fine again until 2 week's ago my room mate said she was gonna turn in for the evening after she finished reading a book, she plugged in a reading lamp and bang, all the same receptacle's along the wall's, the ceiling fan and porch light went out again !!! I checked the breaker again with a friend of mine who is a maintenance man for an apartment complex, he checked the brand new breaker with his meter and told me it was good! I pulled the receptacle that the space heater and lamp had been plugged into when the power went out and I began inspecting it for any evidence of a short and I noticed that it was backstabbed! The wire's looked good but I decided to change all 8 receptacle's with new screw in type because I wanted to have the piece of mind knowing that the back stabbed one's were gone and the new screw in type were installed to reduce the chance of fire and in the process locate the problem, but all 8 of them looked fine! Can you tell me what to do next to solve this mysterious problem, where do I go from here ??? S.O.S., PLEASE HELP !!! I would greatly appreciate your opinion, thank you sooooo much in advance!

You did everything except explain why current lags voltage in an inductive circuit. Some of the things made sense. However, when you have a graph depicting voltage and you are talking about current, and there is no current depicted on the graph, then this doesn't explain the current lagging voltage in an inductive circuit. It's a description of where the voltages are, but not the current . You brought up current at the end of the video, but it didn't explain why current lags voltage. Give it a rest ! Most people who want to teach and claim to have some good way of explaining things are actually very bad teachers and can't explain anything that is very technical and can't use physics or electrical theory, mathematics, or an in-depth understanding of the subject matter to make their point. This is simply another example of somebody trying to teach electronics, but doesn't fully understand the subject matter themselves, and can not fully explain why their equation is important to why current lags voltage. Try again. You will need your equation. Explain where that came from. Next, your graph needs the applied voltage, the induced voltage, and the current superimposed on the graph. Show where 0, 90, 180, 270, and back to 360 degrees. Now, point out the current, voltage, induced voltage, electromagnetic charge on the inductor, and show the relationships that fall into play to produce the induced voltage and the out of phase current. I've listened to your video several times and It's very obvious that you did not achieve your goal.

Aporox @5:00 you cant calculate current strictly from turns, (ampere-turns). Without a value for EMF. Current is stil governed by ohms law. Maybe your calculating the max current ?

Living off grid, just My Wife and i, We have used this type cord for four years connected to Our small generator and to an electrical outlet. We only use a few lights, fans and a small ac in the summer. Everything else is propane. Always kept the main breaker off with a metal bracket i made with a lock. In Our situation, it has worked great. Now, this is not for everyone and i do not recommend it if You don't know what Your doing. Being an electrician, I have seen much worse electrical rigs. If You don't know what Your doing, just be safe, get an interlock switch for the main breaker and do it right.

At 5:48 when you calculate amps from VA, you divide VA by Volts. Do you not also need to divide by sqrt of 3?

I enjoyed the video really clarified the calculations. The question I am left with is in Manitoba Breaker panels don't have a 90C breaker rating only 75C therefore even if we have 90C cable we are forced to use the 75C column for wire ampacity so what impact does that have on distance correction factor if the 90c cable rating is not allowed to be used because it is supplied by a breaker only rated for 75C?

for example 5, there is 2 different kinds of cables with different kinds of temperature ratings, R90 & TW. you said the r90 has a 90degree rating and the. tw has a 60 degree rating? how do I know or where can I find what temperature ratings the cables have? is it in the code book or should it be known already?

Not 100% accurate for the low voltage explanation because you aren’t connecting the 4/5/6 connection and the 10/11/12. It is actually 2 windings in parallel with 2 windings. Not each winding paralleled. But good enough for the beginner.

Thanks for the video! I have basic knowledge and trying to get my 3phase lathe connected to a vfd. My 9wire motor low voltage setting is wye like this one. My question is about 4,5,6. After wiring L1,L2,L3, do I just leave 4,5,6 capped together inside ? Also if the motor has no ground would it be acceptable to wire my own ground to the chassis?
