In Australia 🇦🇺 a standard shift length is 8hrs. And anything over this is penalty rates. The first two to three hours at time and half and then a minimum of double time after that. But!! It is not uncommon for nurses, doctors, and other emergency workers to do a 16hr shift (doubler). 12 hours are generally only in heavy industry where starting pays are $45-$70 an hour.
