Just ordered a couple of the 10ft Specimen rods 1 for me & 1 for the Mrs. Love the look of the Specimen Rods wanted the 5000 reels but you had none left so the 4000 will do. We wanted a slightly shorter rod than our 12ft Barbel & Carp rods we have as will be Ideal for closer work on smaller rivers like the Teme. We also wanted a versatile rod that could also be used on still waters float fishing. As we usually do a lot of float fishing but would also like the option to switch over to ledger fishing when needed. Most of our fishing is Specimen Tench, chub, Barbel, Crucian, Rudd & Roach fishing. But to have a rod that can handle a carp if necessary is a great. After watching Des's videos of fishing with the Specimen rods & that he has been involved in the Design of the rods was one of the reasons we have bought them. They look expertly thought out in there design by an Experienced Specimen angler such as Des Taylor. Looking forward for them to arrive. Regards John & Tracey

Fished Ken last year for the first time , the cray fish were stripping our dead bait like crazy , when reeling them back in it looked like something from a cartoon it was just a skeleton. After about 4 hours of our dead bait being stripped we basically gave up and put a rod out with maggot again the feeders were being emptied as quick as they were going out so another change of tactics was needed… out came the soft baits and lures as they were constantly moving they were the only thing not being taken by the cray… safe to say I doubt I would go back unless we hired a boat

I started fishing in 2019 when I was 30. Wished I'd started 30 years earlier. But when I searched youtube, your videos were what popped up. So I watched them. And 5 years later I'm still watching the old favourites, and this is chief amongst them. Thankyou!

@@CadenceFishingUK for me, and I was an absolute beginner when I first saw them, it all just made so much sense. It wasn't heavy on rigs, just the info I needed, it was great to see that bread was a good bait. The videos just seemed like fishing was very accessible and that it was possible I could go to my local canal and do the same. And I did!

When I was a youngster (early eighties). You could catch tench on every canal in my area, also the local park lakes were prolific tench waters. Carp were rare and celebrated, but it was tench that provided the majority of the sport. Now, you can't find a tench water anywhere near me, but carp puddles are abundant. I'd rather catch covid, than catch a carp.

@@CadenceFishingUK North West England The Leeds-liverpool canal was so good, that on June 16th, you couldn't find a peg. I'm talking 6 miles of canal, with an angler on every peg. The introduction of managed commercial fisheries, although great for the sport, has left us carp obsessed. I regularly pay ten quid a day to fish a crowded, overstocked piss pond I'd pay double, or even treble that amount to fish a genuine Tench lake.

Nice video Des and cadence. I fully agree with the end being white/ different colour especially if using for bottom fishing. Weirdly I've got the cadence 13 8 power feeder and that doesn't have a coloured tip! I think they do now.

Films like this are the nearest I can get to catching tench these days. There's nowhere near me that has tench waters like this. Everyone wants to to stuff the waters full of carp and F1s, which quite frankly soon gets boring.

Hello James! Congratulations for your, as always, very informative presentation! I understand that CP800 is meant to be used with the elastic, but would it be totally wrong if someone uses it as a stronger whip with a longer line? Being very lightweight even at 9 meters, and, perhaps, with a top 2 or top 3 match kit, if that gives some more elasticity in comparison to the power kit, I wonder if CP800 could offer some extra stiffness and power in comparison e.g. to your CP200 whip product. Particularly, I have a specific style of fishing in mind that we are practicing in Greece, which is float fishing in sea from rocks in wavy conditions, using lines in bigger diameters and strong whips that have enough power to lift up fishes of considerable size, sometimes even without using the net (e.g. white sea breams up to 1 kilos or mullets even larger). As a margin pole that can be used to fight much bigger freshwater species like carps that weigh several kilos, even with the elastic, I wonder if CP800 could handle situations like the one I describe as well, without the elastic. I would really appreciate your opinion on this.

Afternoon James, love watching all the videos you produce. Always very informative and well as entertaining. I was just wondering in the case of this video why you would not use a centrepin reel to enable you to control the float through the swim. I am a little bias as I use pins as much as I can get away with.

Hi James and Paul. James you helped me last year sort me out my cp800 which I love..only managed to use it a couple of times but once I recover from open heart surgery which has been a complete shock,I'll start using it much more!!! At the moment I'm not looking at getting longer pole but is there in the future a chance to make this margin pole slightly longer to say 10 or 11mtr?
