What about the 20% of cases where the suturing of the external rotator (piriformis) does not hold up? I had a posterior RH BHR done eight days ago and I have constant debilitating pain deep inside the right side of the buttock. Feels like an ongoing cramp originating from a spot about the size of a quarter.

Hi DR Su, I am 35 male i have sever OA. My surgeon wont do hip resurfacing as he talks about chromium and cobalt ions in the blood. In the UK ceramic ones are still on trial. I am very active or was and his suggestion is to have 2 ceramic THR uncemented. To go against this will mean going private for 30k (15k each side) Im scared on lost with what my future is. Any advice or some calming knowledge

I saw in the NHL game highlights of the Bruins versus Capitals 2/11 game, there was a mention of a Capitals player who had a hip resurfacing and implied he is doing very well. I never heard of it and did some searches about the procedure. @ 1:25 in the video titled "Capitals @ Bruins 2/11 | NHL Highlights 2023", Nicklas Backstrom is said to have come back from a hip resurfacing.

thanks for the video. so if i understand right this patient had a hip-resurfacing of her right hip only one month before the video? Is that correct? I'm watching her in astonishment how she can pull her knee to her chest just one month after the surgery... 😯 I had my left hip-resurfacing almost 8 months ago but i still can't bend my leg/hip beyond approx. 100 degrees. Which i find quite frustrating...

Thank you for this incredibly informative video! The surgeon I have chosen is offering the option of HRA over anterior approach THR because I hope to return to jiu-jitsu after surgery. However, given that I am female with hip dysplasia and too small for the Birmingham kit, I'm not certain which approach is really best for me. Any advice on how what else I should take into account when making my decision and/or what questions I should ask my surgeon? Which prosthetics are best for HRA in smaller females - "off-label" BioMet?
