The name of this show was Weathering Heights, not Wuthering Heights -- perhaps a pun on the Bronte novel. This was the production that demonstrated to me that the team at The Woodlands understood visual poetry. The step back down around 3:30 gives me chills every time I watch it. A moment that is musically flawless and gives import to the theme. Gorgeous aviator aesthetic as well.

I might be wrong, but this may also have been the first guard to be reclassed mid-season from Scholastic Open to World. 2nd season in a row it happened to them. At this particular contest, they 3-pointed the NEISD guard that ended up making world class finals at Dayton. Impressive for a show written for the Open class!

This band is from a real actual high school? Is it a massive private school with tons of funding and tens of thousands of students? How is this possible?
@metallack20 Жыл бұрын
I went to this high school. It is real! It is also a public school. My graduating class in 2013 was over 1,100. The marching band pulls from 9-12th grade, so about 5,000 kids total in Broken Arrow 9-12th that year. To put that in an even weirder perspective, my husband and I both graduated from Broken Arrow in the class of 2013. We both went to Broken Arrow schools from kindergarten through 12th grade and didn’t meet until two years after graduation.

Alkilchrist actually I think one of the judges had beef with one of the producers of the show so he gave a bad score on visual (even though visuals were like the best part) and then BA didn’t go to grand nats in 2013 because Bands of America didn’t remove that judge from the panel.

Alex Croney Nope. I mean it seems like a lot, but whatever works for them works! If thats what it takes to almost win BOA San Antonio (they got 2nd) and go to State finals that year then thats what it takes! A lot of it has to do with how spread out their show is and whether or not time can be seen on the field by everyone at all points in the show. They only had 5 this year though. Just depends on the show and the leadership they feel is best suited for them I guess 🤷🏼♂️

Far and away the best marching show in the country in 2013, and maybe the cleanest Texas show I've ever seen. An absolute master class. Really. Every designer should study that opener. It's clever, immediately establishes the theme, flows seamlessly, unfolds magically, has a wonderful sense of space and integration of the color guard, and is, of course, totally thrilling. Keep trying new things, Woodlands!

Cleanest Texas show ever was Marcus in 2012
@trixie16457 жыл бұрын
Certainly, Hebron has never performed a show as clean as this. In fact, visual-related captions are what cost them the national title in 2015. They are, of course, fabulous musically!
@trixie16457 жыл бұрын
Marcus' show was indeed clean in 2012, but it was not as clean as this, especially when you take into account that this show was much more difficult visually. Marcus 2012 also tied for the visual caption at SA, which makes the cleanest ever argument a bit more difficult to substantiate. Nevertheless, Marcus 2012 is one of my favorites!
