I think I’d need a hydraulic clutch and a TFT screen to tempt me. Shame because the bike looks great. I had the 750 pop up headlight Katana in ‘88

I don't know why this bike doesn't get more love. Retro styling on bikes is very popular right now and this bike has the power of more track oriented bikes but with street riding ergonomics. It seems like it would be a popular choice. Yamaha got their XSR 900GP that's creating a ton of buzz for it's 80s/early 90s retro looks and they got the "sporty engine with street ergos" in the MT-10. Suzuki is killing it right now with their GSX-8S which is basically doing the same thing as the Katana but with a modern fairing and less powerful engine. Still this bike doesn't get as much love as those.
@Nox_exe5 күн бұрын
The main complaint has been the fuel capacity a lot of people understandably can't stand that especially when there are bikes like the XSRs and CBs. Also this bike is a limited run so availability plays a role too. That and I don't think I've seen Suzuki market this bike at all lol that's on them.

It's a joy to find again videos about this amazing bike. I own the previous model (2021) in grey and I love it. The issue of little fuel tank, which didn't make this bike a best seller, is not an issue. At least for me, at least in Italy, since is not such a big deal to stop and have a break after a 1.30 hours ride. Isn't it? 🙂 Anyway, I want to give. you my 2 cents about spending money on that bike. What I've changed is the plate holder arm with a Rizoma Fox, then the exhaust (keeping the cat.) with an SC Project CR-T Titanium, then I added frame/engine protections Evotech and a IRC Quickshifter. The biggest benefit came from removing a lot of weight, with plate holder and exhaust. Then, as you well know, the pleasure of using the quickshifter is huge. Now, given that is always a pleasure to spend money on your "baby", you should ask yourself what you really need. The bike is plenty of peak power and torque, flashing the ECU and changing the air filter are just waste of money, in my modest opinion. Normal bikers, probably, use half or, maybe two thirds of the power available. Keeping our bike in its ideal rev range is a tough job: either you go like a rocket or you go in a lower gear. And this leads to a consequence: noise. My experience: the "voice" of SC Project exhaust is amazing but, even if legal, after a while gets annoying. Using that engine the way it should be used, sometimes I get home totally... exhausted. The real benefit is that titanium is very, very light. If you, instead, keep the original exhaust and stay in your ideal rev range, you realize that the sound is beautiful and refined and not silent at all. I'd rather spend money on changing tires. I don't know in USA but in Europe Katana is equipped with Dunlop RoadSport 2 that, my opinion, suck. In general, whatever gives pleasure is welcome but being conscious that there are only few things really impacting your experience with a motorbike: above all, weight removal, good tires, good brakes and suspensions. I gave you hints 😉Anyway, keep on posting videos and enjoy that "gem". Ciao from Italy👍.

Thanks for the comment you make some great points! As I continue riding this bike I think my opinions are slowly changing on what to do on this bike. Yes here in the US the bike comes with Dunlops and I've definitely looked at swapping to Michelin Road 6 I'm just on the fence because for things like that I have this habit making myself use consumables like tires until they absolutely need to be replaced lol. Again thank you for your input! You're definitely making me think things through again! 😊
@MassTnT15 күн бұрын
@@Nox_exe Thanks to you. Sharing opinions is always the best way to... go and spend more money 🤣. Anyway, I have the same approach to tires. Actually, after almost three years of ownership I didn't change yet the hateful Dunlop. But, honestly, I can't wait. It's also a matter of how many miles per year you ride. About me, given that the miles (Kms) are low, I want to try something sportier: Bridgestone S23. If I were you, I would consider changing the mono shock. I didn't but, everybody, with any bike, told me that the shock, even more than the forks change dramatically the experience.
