There is no problem when the wicket is flat or wont change over time, but on changing pitches, how often have we seen that the losing team is completely dominated, not just the pitch but the due factor is also very significant in many countries. But, to be honest, I do agree that it is not the most significant issue right now in cricket. Also, BCCI has introduced this rule so somewhere there are these talks of the toss issue right? In other sports, toss does mot play this significant of a role as it plays in Cricket.

@@thetgpod Yeah I mean, that's why Cricket is different right? I see it as a quality feature of the sport. The pitch changes a bit, the batters and bowlers have to keep changing their strategy accordingly. The pitch is what differentiates Cricket from baseball. Its a beauty of a sport. And there's no other sport in the entire world where 3 different formats of the sport are played completely differently. You can be a great in one format and less than average in the other. Test format is a gem of a sport. Pure flat decks will just be boring in any format. Its like removing a natural part from the sport. Bowlers won't need to adjust their length if all pitches are flat and the bounces are similar. I take it like a matter of fact. Like in an IND-AUS test match, "AUS won the toss and chose to bat. We have to see if we can keep Aus down to 250 but if they go beyond 400 and if our first innings go bad, We have to adjust our plans to settle for a draw" and I dont see anything wrong with it. That's the nature of the sport. It can also go wrong for AUS trying to put a high score on a flat deck, but losing wickets early and India ending to do an easy chase. Ofcourse Toss plays a role. But its not always certain in which way it helps. Anyways nice talk. Agree to disagree.

If you look at this logic where the shorter the game is, more the competitiveness, a one over game can give more entertainment to the crowd as well and it may not always be the case that the stronger team wins. We can even have a 3 over game, to keep it short but still give some time for strategy. I agree to most points, you put up some good arguements. Lastly, I think the boards now realize that the toss cant play a huge role in the outcome and are therefore creating surfaces that are batting friendly throughout, but it still plays a significant role. UAE World Cup was the worst example where the team batting first lost due to the due factor.

I dont' think this time it was the pressure that got us, Australia were the better team on the day, but looking at the pitch when Kohli was playing and after he got out, the pitch slowed down incredibly. SKY tried to go for boundaries but realised thats just not going to happen. Of course the Aussie bowlers used the conditions very well, but overall the game could have been different if we won the toss. Obviously we cant solely blame the toss, but it does play a part. And as fans and experts and authorities, we should keep on eliminating the luck factor from the game by bringing new ideas. The away rull though, just does not make sense for me.
