How long does it take to repair? I’ve had to go down in weights so that I don’t agrivate it more.

Hey there, not sure if you remember me. I'm the one who said "lifting while jaming out to music is great for the soul", which you left a heart on. I also left other comments on your videos about distal biceps tendonitis, which you also sent me links to for references about that paticular issue. However, I'm starting to think I have a minor brachioradialis tear from my symptoms from how I'm able to pin point(literally) where I feel it with an unclicked pen(pushing with an unclicked pen on your muscles is amazing for locating an injury that's kind of hard to locate). In the beginning, even days after this accumulative injury happened(way too many heavy sets of reclined hammer cable curls over the past year), I would get shooting pains running through the forearm just sitting there. Those subsided two weeks after it happened. If you take the inside of your left elbow, go down towards your wrist 1/2 inch, and then to the left 1/2 inch, that's where I pin pointed my pain, (when the arm is over worked in a supinated position), which is slightly left to the actual tendon(when doing a hook test). Looking up anatomy photos and matching symptoms, these seems to be more of a brachioradialis tear rather than biceps tendonitis. Once and a while I can feel something small where the bicep muscle seperates from the arm(when you do a raised arm front bicep flex), which is the opposite side you showed in this video. It's been almost 3 months and it still flares up, although very minor because I haven't done back and bi's or chest and triceps workouts since may 5th, so I don't give it a chance to really hurt like it did back then. However, it's not going away completly, even when I do general lifting things in daily life endeavors that involves that arm, (or at my job cause I work on an ambulance) , im reminded it's still there. Given the location I described from the inner elbow, and all the symptoms I've experienced since the beginning, would you lean towards that this is a brachioradialis type injury? And if do so, how long do they take to go away? Thanks Doc for reading this...
@OcraMedHealthКүн бұрын
Of course I can’t say for sure without examining the area, but from your description it definitely could be. Keep working some brachioradialis techniques. Sometimes these things can take anywhere from 4-12 weeks depending on severity. At some point, if it doesn’t resolved, I would visit someone for evaluation/diagnostic test. Good luck!
@deadlyalliance8281Күн бұрын
@@OcraMedHealth 4-12 weeks eh? (Possibly longer due to my job requiring lifting patients). August 5th will be the 3rd month mark. I'll try some Thai chi ball techniques to promote fascia release, and Heat therapies to promote blood flow. I'm also trying bpc 157 capsules("third party verified") in quotes cause I trust the certificate documentation lightly, seeing if that helps it whatsoever. Anywho, thanks for the knowledge and time man!

First take a break for two weeks and ice heat rest treatment with light movement like taichi then after two weeks warm up properly and do these stretches every 2-3 days for a 2 weeks then gradually go back to training doing just your warm up sets for 2 weeks. I'm total 6 weeks rest. Then after your back and biceps workouts always stretch with these 3 max and don't over stretch

Had this issue years ago on my right shoulder and this helped a ton. Now I am dealing with it on my left shoulder and I have been trying to find this video again! Now that I found it, its time to get to work! The only exercise that seems to cause me pain is incline bench...I dont want to drop the exercise until this gets better....should I do what my brain says and drop it? If is there an alternative you suggest to still work the upper chest?
@OcraMedHealth3 күн бұрын
When it comes to chest workouts and shoulder pain, you are right in "letting pain be your guide". Certain pressing angles will feel fine, while others will cause pain. In your case, the incline press aggravates your injury. You can play around with some different incline angles to see if any feel comfortable. If nothing feels comfortable, I would just skip incline pressing exercises for a couple weeks. You can get plenty of chest work in for now using just flat and decline type exercises. I'm sure skipping incline work for a couple of weeks won't effect your upper chest development too much. And the upper chest development will come back quickly once you can start incline presses again. Good luck!

Yep the Brachioradialis is a heavily utilized muscle in daily activities, very easy to over-train it/injure it and end up with a chronic condition if you don't treat it with respect and or do Dr. Joe's release work 👍👍 I recently discovered a way from a friend to use a tensor bandage and a large bouncey ball and extend the muscle under the pressure of the ball to mimic Active Release Technique without a second set of hands. I'm certain it will work better with those Tai Chi balls! Thanks Again Doc, you give us good pertinent content.

As Mark Wildman and Donnie from Adex Clubs says, most shoulder injuries are a series of smaller injuries and lifestyle which eventually causes a big injury which is why they are club advocates. One summer I worked on a lawn crew. I was the guy who used the string trimmer. My 1 arm was always bent and I got biceps tendonitis from being in that shortened posting. Anyways, a doctor prescribed an elbow brace while I slept to keep my arm straight while I slept 8 hours. Solved my problems.

If I already have a swelling/lump at the base of my achilles, what do you recommend I do to heal and not aggravate it more.
@OcraMedHealth8 күн бұрын
Certainly have it evaluated by your doctor/therapist. In my experience, patients that have had chronic achilles issues (chronic tension/tugging on the achilles) will develop a thickening at the achilles. It can often look like a bump. It's the tendon thickening from the chronic stress being placed on it.

Any tips on how to perform this? I tried a bunch of times and didn’t feel a contraction or stretch, but I successfully did it once and it targeted the exact area so I know I did it right that one time. It’s hard to get a grip on the muscle since it’s very deep. I’m having pain between the shoulder left shoulder blade and spine. (Around scapula area)

@OcraMedHealth8 күн бұрын
@@Ramiii-rv9ys The serratus is a thin muscle but you can feel it over the ribs. I find most people get better at myofascial release work the more they perform it so hang in there. Just try a little at a time and you will be able to determine what is working and what is not. Best of luck!

Thank you Thank you!! I just thought it was a plain old hammie injury. I have had this injury for 40 years off and on. It literally tore at the end of a yoga class and I heard it go. I couldn’t sit for a year but continued to try and stretch FOR YEARS. Then found out I shouldn’t be stretching. But I have injured it over and over being hyper flexible and teaching yoga. NOW i know it is a proximal hamstring tendinopathy. Every thing you said is EXACTLY what I have suffered from. I will do all these things that you recommend.

Very interesting Dr. Joe, I recently had a small tweak directly where you described the coracobrachialis as existing near the armpit. I actually think I tweaked it going hard on the Scott-Bench or Preacher Curl machine. I like to do those partials in the more extended position to get a burn, do you think the tweak would be more likely with the forearm in a strong peak flexion or deeper extension? Amazing videos.
