Does Gaff tape leave a residue if used to tape something that may be in place for a year or more and exposed to heat like on the inside of a car during summer?

Great vid mate. Completely agree, gaffer power tape perfect. Use it for anything and everything. Greetings from one gaffer tape dude to another!

I can also tear strips of gaff tape with only my thumb/hands, while you'll generally need scissors to cut duct tape

Great vid and absolutely great channel. I use duct and gorilla tape for everything and anything. Am pretty much a tape fanatic so this channel and its vids right up my street. Have subscribed. Would love to hear from any like minded duct tape dudes out there as using/appreciating tape is one thing guys have in common wherever they may be. Greetings to my duct tape bros 👋

Hi Marty, thanks for the great vid. Always annoys me when people talk about duct and gaffer tapes as if they are the same thing. You provide great clarity on this. Cheers buddy. Those in the know like us will have to keep going educating the masses that just lump all tapes together...

lol this tape is easy if you can do it in first try, the one im dealing with takes me about 1 minute to seperate every time easiest way to do this: peel the "non stick" part off while the tape is still on roll, then cut/rip pieces off and put onto wherever, done take the nonstick off one small piece at a time if you have to do that, you can pinch a corner and rip it off, the soft layer underneath will be ripped off and you can easily grab a corner of the more stiff nonstick layer. oh and when you cut off pieces of tape, hold the end of the tape with 2 fingers and cut with scissor behind where you hold, hold it straight so it wont stick to the scissor and frustrate your soul cheers. bs tape💀💀

I also had such type of High Intensity Grade Reflective tape pasted on my motorcycle. They are reflective but to some meters only. Now, I always use Diamond Grade Reflective tape (especially from 3M). They are overly powerful reflective than any such tape. Trust me you won't be disappointed after trying it.

So duct tape actually sticks better than gaffer tape? Everybody was making it sound like gaffer tape is just all around better. But no, it's just because of less residue, less reflection, and a higher heat tolerance? Those are fairly specific situations where gaffer would be better to use it in. In most other situations, you just need a tape that can stick better to something. I'm glad I didn't spend $20 on a roll of it now.
@Gafferpower3 жыл бұрын
Both have their uses for sure. It's just a common mistake that people make in thinking both are essentially the same type. Bottom line is duct tape is a set it and forget it tape where gaffer is beneficial for temporary jobs.
@guestguide2544Ай бұрын
You may have to use sandpaper to remove the residue from duct tape that been in place for a long time or even worn off due to weathering, not even strong solvent will remove the residue. I'm wondering what the gaff tape is like if left in place long term.
@techmouse.Ай бұрын
@@guestguide2544 Well it's funny because duct tape residue can be removed with more duct tape. You just peel off a small piece of it and keep tapping the sticky side to area where the duct tape residue is and it will get it up.

Nice...I'm actually using a piece of Gaffer Power's black gaff tape to hold down some weather stripping on my auto exterior. I just did it to temporaryhold it down (so I could glue the stripping later) but now that it's sticking so well I thought I'd just leave it there😄
