They are comparable to most 5000-4000 sized reels. The vr 50 is not a big reel by any means. What fish do you want to target?

@@yannickbzh35 The VR-50 might be a little overkill. The reel is great for catching little tuna that rip drag like crazy and pretty sizable bass.

How would this hold out, with a full day of casting inland spinner baits and 1/2 oz. lures, both reel & the knob. Looking for a comfortable spinning reel to cast a lot during the day (hot, sunny). Wondered if the rubber (?) knob would affect fingers/thumb by making them fatigue?

Hi Bump, sorry for the delayed response. I’ve used this (VR-50) many times for full days and I think it’s actually better than any other reels for comfort. Because it’s so light, it’s easy to hold and reel. The knob relaxes your hand as well so you don’t get finger fatigue at all from my experience.

This is my backyard (and where i bring my boat out)... i heard theres a fantastic sande eal spawning ground not far from where one of your shots were.. if you go further back in the river, stripers like to enjoy herring in the spring

Hi Jesse sorry for such a delayed response. Fishing this year was not great in Boston for me. I was pretty busy and didn't get too much fishing in. The Vineyard was good but for albies and bones. Thanks for the continued support! How was fishing for you this year?

It was pretty good. Caught a 29 inch and 32 inch striped bass in May and October respectively in Boston, and a 34 inch bluefish in Boston in October. Never caught an albie or a black sea bass, so that's my goal for next season. @@BeantownAngler

I have caught sharks bigger than cars,trucks off beaches that just calmly come 20 meters to me out ov the water i grab sand sinker leave hook in mouth and cut trace then it calmly goes like a car back home 😮
