All carbon tax is is extortion. PERIOD. The government just takes the money and does as it pleases.. sends it to their buddies, sends weapons to ukrain, gives people who dont work money.. all of it coming from the middle class. Benefitting the mega rich and the poor who didnt work for what we give the gov for them to get given.

Balony. Garretson is a liar, but not a good one. Most thinking Canadians knew in 2018 what the carbon tax was and is. Just another gasoline (diesel etc) tax on an already over-taxed commodity. There is a breaking point where it becomes unaffordable and drives inflation. That breaking point was already reached before the new tax on tax was implemented.

Nonsense. It was the MAJOR inflation around the globe after the pandemic that did the REAL damage - and caused alarm. That and massive corporate profits. The carbon tax is minimal and being used as a scapegoat for Poilievre to attack Trudeau . . .

"An exit poll suggests Britain's Labour Party is headed for a huge majority in the U.K. election, riding a wave of frustration with 14 years of CONSERVATIVE rule. "British voters are picking a new government Thursday in a parliamentary election that is widely expected to bring the Labour Party to power against a gloomy backdrop of economic malaise, mounting distrust in institutions and a fraying social fabric."

I don't know how he is going to unite the country. Since Canada was conceived the only votes that count are in Ontario and Quebec, and traditionally the federal government has looked after those provences at the expense of the other 8 provences and three territories. Rather than encouraging development in every provence they have suppressed development in some provences. This is not helped by the provincial governments cresting countries within themselves and creating barrierswithin Canada. I wish Pierre luck but the ttaditional Canada is against him combined with the mess he will inheret.

Pierre will not fix the problem, because it is political suidice. The root cause problem is wealth transfer from the have-nots to the haves. It is not a prime minister issue, it is a systemic problem. The system rewards those with money and power, and it punishes everyone else, it has bad feedback loops.

The ongoing wealth transfer from the eroding middle-class to the thriving niche wealthy class..... the most common delivery mechanism is High Rental prices. That is what allows house prices to stay high, keep increasing, and outpace inflation. The banking restrictions cause a high barrier of entry, locking the middle-class out from owning land, and having their savings be erroded by fiat currency. In essence, they have formed a Speculative Investment from a Base Necessity/Shelter (Maslow's Human Requirements). If you could mandate a national rule, and halt ANY rental increases for a period of TEN years. That would make property a poor investment vehicle. This would remove most bad-actors from the market. However, it would still keep property as a good store of value, and lock-out the middle class. Furthermore, you can make a mandates to address this. Firstly, make it so you need Citizenship to buy ANY property. Secondly, make it so that people with multiple properties will get a much higher taxation on their other properties, and this can scale up based on the more properties you have or their valuation based on postcode. Thirdly, make it so that citizens who would normally afford the mortgage but have been locked-out, well, using a government grant would be able to sign up without a deposit. Then you create the conditions that allows the middle-class to escape this trap, and leaves all of the wealthy people angry. You might ask, well how can you pay for such reforms? Well, it is not a question of can the country afford it, but rather would they do it? The money is there, it is simple (not easy). We need taxation reforms, remember the healthiest days for the populace (mostly middle-class and lower class) were days when the nation was productive, wise, and sensible in their taxation of the rich. Just like an obsessive person with an eating disorder.... they CAN do it, but it won't feel good. It would be worth it though, can you afford to NOT do this? Most nations have turned their tailcoats at their own citizens, and more willing to help the international community with the people in the top 10% of wealth. It sounds simple to say, but sometimes complex problems require simple solutions.

Taxes went DOWN for many under Trudeau. Starting in 2016, they lowered the tax rate on the lower middle income bracket -- earnings between $45,282 and $90,563 went from a tax rate of 22 per cent to 20.5 per cent . In 2019, the Liberals introduced a further tax measure, which took effect Jan. 1 and is to be phased in over four years, increases the amount someone can earn before federal taxes kick in, lifting the amount ultimately to $15,000 from $12,300 . . . .

Liberal MP Marco Mendicino posted on social media in support of his caucus colleague on Tuesday night. "This isn't 1938. It's 2024. I don't give a shit what party you're in (or not), the condemnation of this antisemitic garbage should be universal and deafening!" Mendocino said in a post on X. Canadian Jewish advocacy groups have been raising concerns about a rise in antisemitism in the country. In its latest annual audit, B'nai Brith Canada reported the number of antisemitic incidents in the country more than doubled from 2022 to 2023 and has now reached a record high. The groups said that between Jan. 1, 2023, and Dec. 31, 2023, it logged 5,791 incidents of antisemitism, surpassing the previous record of 2,799 reported in 2021. Poilievre keeps Leslyn Lewis and 3 other MPs in caucus after they knowingly met with a German parliamentarian known to espouse racist and antisemitic views. Why?
