Men. I love FCP EURO. I found pretty good, with asome quality parts and videos that help us to fix our vehicules right "BUT" this procedure especifically in the minute 33:00 is pretty harmfull. I been following this procedure and i broke my excentric shaft. And just to by clear this is not a complain, this an advice to pay attention in this part and for the custumers to dont follow that part of the video to disengage the valvetronic from the excentric shaft. I could die doing this last nihgt and im alive to tell you this is not the way. I know the job is completely under my responsability to do this safely. "THE BEST WAY" in order to dont kill yourself and dont broke a 1,000$ part is turn th excentric shaft all the way to the lower set and you gonna get the same result "NEUTRAL" with no risk to damage yourself or your vehicle then you are able to remove the valvetronic motor. For those who care about what happen to me last night this is the explanation: When you turn the excentric shaft all the way to the upper set you are loading the springs (16 springs to be exact) when you are all the way to the upper set and you disengage the valvetronic you gonna receive all the load from the springs in your tool and probabbly you are not prepare because the valve tronic support all the load and you dont noitce any diference when you are fully loaded. So if you dont pay attention to that you feel confortable turning, trying to get NEUTRAL set and all the spring pull even more and you could loose the grip and thats happen to me. Maybe you could be the next doing this with oil in your gloves and getting a unnecesarry accident. To finish this history i bought my new excentric shaft with new bearings from FCP Euro today and im just waiting to install everything back. I hope they see this comment and improve the video to void damages to people and their cars.

This is also appliccable to the 2015 Q5 with the 3.0T engine, right? I dont see any mention of the Q5 with the 3.0T in the description or on the blog post.

Just installed the pigtail extensions and nothing else. I have 160k miles . Just got the car a few months ago and there was oil when I went to install the new pigtails so I sprayed it with electrical cleaner a few times and faced it down to drain out then put a rag under to catch it. There was a good amount of oil up in there smh. Thank God I installed these before oil got in there .

So I’ve just talked with the tech at my local dealer about replacing the dichtring. They claim you just place it in there with the thermostat, place it on the car and tighten the bolts. It’s supposed to just pop into place as you tighten with measly 9ft lbs of torque. WTF?

Def stay away from the v8s cause unless your nasa engineer good luck replacing the $55 valve seals so plan on shelling out $3000+ to a shop all for $55 seals. BMW cheaper out everywhere they could right down to the gasket material why u think all BMWs PISS oil the crappy gasket material turns to rock hard plastic. They were designed to put max $$ in the execs pockets and the BMW Service depts!! I own a x6 x4 328 and 550i. Love em all but hate them all just as much !! So do your self a favor and get a Toyota or something more reliable

vw/audi doesnt pay to remove the intake manifold and all you do is remove the charge pipe and the throttle body, maybe even the fan shroud for a little more room. just for those who are scared to do this, i have a buddy who can finish these in 2-3 hours that explained it to me

Thanks for the vid. mine is on 107k and 12yrs old. I am unsure whether it was done before or not but the tranny runs smooth as butter. Would you recommend removing some from the filling port and inspect the fluid removed before making a decision?
