I’ve been in Vancouver Canada since 1991 originally from England. Life changed since 911. The bubble burst and a decline has taken place for humanity. I would have never had my children if I had known to be honest.

Everything is the same, humanity keeps destroying the planet, destroying themselves, but now we have more information, access to what is happening around the world. The increase in individuality, which is a trait of late capitalism, makes us feel there is no hope beyond ourselves to solve the world's problems.

New World Order/globalisation. Basically, the elite do not want the population (especially the Western or "developed" countries to have any sort of feeling/emotion, only be a byproduct, a machine to them so they can suck out the life itself from all of us, to repress our soul. They want from all of us to be obedient through technology, capitalism, material things.

I think humans feel collectively to an extent. We should probably take religions of the past a bit more seriously, not verbatim but for what humans experience and sense.

Thank you this is a really important conversation. I feel the same way at 29, trying to reclaim the “lost” sense of development. I’m not sure if you’ve ever read the work of Simone Weils but I think you would connect to her philosophy and the obligations she talks about in the Need for Roots. She recognized the detriment of a society that only supports the education of children and the harm the industrial world has on the human spirit. “The child, while at school, whether a good or bad pupil, was a being whose existence was recognized, who’s development was a matter of concern, whose best motives were appealed to.” People of all ages should be supported by their society to develop and take risks.

Permission is a great word. I’ve been thinking about giving oneself permission, for many years. I believe that you can give yourself permission as such, in the corporate world. But to do it while staying sovereign, you’ve gotta be prepared to be fired, or at least to leave on your own if the corporation can’t accommodate you.

There’s a lot a problems with this video. “We have established that hierarchies are natural” There is no consensus on this. This is an ideological take, no matter what side you’re on. Same thing with the Gini coefficient: not only it’s a relative measure, but it’s extremely limited. Just because it’s a measure that can be applied across time it doesn’t mean it’s a good one. Even so, there’s no direct line between the Byzantine Empire and the USA. If you’ve taken the Soviet Union, for example - with all the immense flaws of that regime - you’d get a Gini of something between 0.23 to 0.29, which could suggest Soviet Socialism was among the absolute best resource distributions in history of humankind. Would communism be the answer, then? If so, why in another video you’d use footage of Stalin when talking about “populist extremists who try to impose an easy solution” instead of Hitler, Trump or Mussolini? And as a final thought: your anecdotal experience is absolutely irrelevant to justify your analysis has a strong foundation, especially being clearly a young person.

A great and thought provoking video - thanks. I particularly like your comments about the game, and about builders and players. I think people who want to be a builder often need to work as a player for some years, in order to build a stake (as you did), both in financial and competence / marketability terms. A critical element of that strategy, in my view, is to learn how to live well on a small income. Fuelled by a desire to be a ‘free builder’, learning that is not really hard. Whether you are a player or a builder, success requires a lot of determination, learning and effort. There’s no free ride.

Humanity is in the Kali Yuga cycle which is a destructive era to be in. Presently, we are experiencing Hell on Earth as it were.. The Satya Yuga, or Golden Age is next up. But we seem to be a long ways from that utopia- as we wait for the big plot twist which seems to loom over us in this cosmic movie.

Here on July 27, 2024. I feel the same way. Everything was different until 2010. Things began taking a turn for the worse since then. It began to worsen (more instant dopamine, more addiction to mobile phones and the internet and especially social media) since 2012/2013. In today's times, humans have become desensitised and cannot really enjoy the moment as they have been numbed by years and years of instant dopamine effects. I don't know how to describe it but a phone always takes a part of you away from the real moment. It's literally like living two lives at a time - one real and one digital.

I feel the same as others who are commenting - there's certainly a very odd vibe at the moment that seems to net a general feeling of dread/hopelessness. However, to state an (arguably naive) explanation for this feeling, to hopefully offer a modicum of reassurance - could it just be that we're currently experiencing some sort of collective PTSD from all the bs that's happed in close succession, ie. developed a confirmation bias towards it? For example, if you'd had the misfortune of getting mugged twice on the way home from work, then you'd spend the remainder of the journey with a high level of fear/certainty that a 3rd mugger was going to jump out at you. Another explanation could be that negative chaos has now been going on for so long that we've individually and collectively lost our anchorage to what normal even feels like. I'm just hoping (like I'm sure we all are) that the chaos doesn't have to end with a bang before we're able to find our way back to normality.

Lets face it, you spend a life time learning and becoming a better person, then you die. Humans even back in the day lived 60-80 years if they made it through infancy. It makss sense the general lifespan of a human marks the reset where we see a new group of people having to tackle the problems all over again. The difference is now, being so globally connected.....we can change this and actually do better. The only problem is.... we've been squandering it.

Brilliant work. But, you just gave us the answer. We are in a continuously changing cycle and the cycle is about to shift. Just as earth has gone through heat ages and then, ice ages, and then again a heat age, like the one we are entering now; humanity has also gone through its cycles. We have gone from being peasants with kings, to enjoying free markets in a capitalistic society. But that is changing rapidly once again and we can feel it. We are entering the cycle of Peasants and Lords again. Once again, we have become slaves to the system by paying high taxes just to be able to rent the land we live on, use devices that track us which we don't even understand, and since we didn't experience the suffering of WW2, we unconsciously wish that another war or revolution would start that would change the current state of the world. How else could we bring equality back if it isn't with war.

“Everything in the streets is derived- that is to say; literature” “Eddie Carney from my block was more fearful than Napoleon could ever be when he gave me my first bloody nose” The cycle.. I always think of this topic, and have looked for it in other sides of history- Enderal shows this well but in a more Jungian / Dionesian way - anyway, cool video- I would NOT call memory simple though, I think memory is what gives rise to consciousness and identity once u consider all the different function’s of memory- even though that’s sort of a wrongheaded estimation of what u meant by “start with something simpler” - but ya, great topic, gonna check out yr channel 🤟🏻
