I just had to come here and say I really appreciate the way you're presenting your company and product, and I'll be definitely going with a Longmill when I purchase. I like how everyone who is praising the Longmill is an engineer who is doing double-duty. That's what most of us want: someone who knows (and probably helped develop) the product just giving us straight information and letting the product sell itself.

This is by far the best value CNC in its class in my opinion. Extremely well engineered and the perfect fit for anyone wanting an affordable quasi-commercial production machine with all of the bells and whistles you would expect in pricier options. Congrats Daniel, Andy and the rest of your team. Just making some space and I'll be ordering soon.

Yeah, my S5Pro is super nice...no serious complaints - but if this had been an option for me a year ago, I'd have made a different choice.

awesome machine for sure.... I wanted to purchase it immediately after following the progress on KZfaq.... but I couldn't wait till next year to take delivery. Maybe next time....

I was seriously looking to buy but instead going with the one infinity elite. The Altmill is seams to be like a great CNC and I know it will be successful.

@SienciLabs3 күн бұрын
Yes, we don't have a Sienci-built ATC for it yet, but with the SLB-EXT controller and toolchanging functions built into gSender, users should be able to install their own aftermarket options for now.

It’s crazy how far they’ve come. I’ve been enjoying my Longmill 30x30 and can’t wait for the 4x8 Altmill (hopefully in the near future). I’m glad they’ve made CNC accessible to the main public who’s not looking to spend a fortune on a large and rigid CNC.

Is there any reason to do this? Not being snarky, I just am not sure what the benefit of doing this is.
@SienciLabs5 күн бұрын
People would primarily choose to do it for space saving since it otherwise comes with some other downsides like machine wear and material loading

I was hoping for more altmill videos. Ahhh table leg?
I've had vcarve pro about a year and the main thing I don't like is there's not much support for dimensional woodwork. I make all my cabinets with multiple inset shelves with Freecad and anything artistic I use vcarve pro..

Thanks for your comment Scott! Glad you found a workaround for the cabinet/shelf side of things!

We ordered our Altmill yesterday and we are told that we should expect delivery for January. I get the growing pains of small business but having customers wait 6 months is a little crazy. This is when you scale up production so you don’t risk losing potential sales to your competitors. As a small Canadian business ourselves, we want to support another Canadian based small business while encouraging innovation, having said that this is just our 2cents worth regarding the risk associated of having a customer wait for unacceptable receiving times.
@SienciLabs3 күн бұрын
In the short term, yes we will lose customers because our production can't keep up and lead times will be long. However, we believe that taking our time in production and assembly for our first batch will make sure that the overall quality and experience in the long run is as high as possible. It's our plan to scale up production in the next 6 months so that we can reduce lead times.

It’s all great but easy stuff. You need to do a video on a two part bit job. I struggled with that at the beginning but now got it down “I think “ lol maybe you have a better n easier way. Thanks. Great video.
@SienciLabs5 күн бұрын
Thanks for the input! We've done LOTS of videos that use more than 1 bit/bit changes, just check out our YT page. Unless we're misunderstanding what you're saying? Let us know!

Is this the same spindle that the Alt|Mills will be outfitted with, or is it one that was mounted specifically for these heavy-duty projects?
@SienciLabs5 күн бұрын
It was a 2.2kw spindle. The one we're selling is a 1.5kw. It will be able to do the same type of work with some adjusted feeds and speeds!
@Miter5TrimCarpentry8 күн бұрын
Hi Scott, What if we want to save our files in a SINGLE GCODE FILE and use a bit setter to automate the Z height when performing a tool change, can this be done with the SLB EXT while also be configured in gSender? Please and thank you in advance!! :))
@SienciLabs5 күн бұрын
You can do this using the tool change functionality in gSender as is, or you can even customize this within gSender's tool change wizard to add in custom macro things that happen during the tool change. The SLB (SLB-Ext) is also capable of much more advanced tool changing stuff but we haven't fully leveraged it yet. Hope this helps!
