This trip reminds me of a wide open kelp patty bite we were on a few years ago on the Islander. My wife to that point and time had only caught a few rat yellowtail in her life. She hooked back to back 14 pound yellowtails on 2 consecutive casts. The look on her face experiencing the tug & power of a real sized yellowtail was priceless!

Hello cousin Jim. Question sir, what’s the porpoise of having a 60 pound mono in between your jig and bread line? Thanks
@cousinjim15 күн бұрын
Good question! There is no real purpose for the motto between the braid and the jig. The purpose for the mono is during daytime fishing when you’re fishing live bait it a lot of times I say mono when it is Flouro Carbon in my more recent nighttime videos. You’ll see that the only thing I have is 300- 400 pound 3 foot leader between my braid and the jig. This piece of leader is purely for the teeth in case they swallow the jig Very good question tight lines

If you have 100 feet of line out at a 45 degree angle the depth of the end of the line is 70.71 feet. To calculate this, in your calculator enter the length of the line that is out, then hit the cosine button and then enter the angle you are out in degrees and the answer will appear. magic.

Passengers should never grab a gaff and gaff another passengers fish. Thats why he said " i wish you were a crew member". It makes the captain and crew look like they're not doing their jobs. If you hurt yourself or someone else hes liable. When you were doing play by play for the gentleman who said it was his birthday the deckhand said to you " i think hes doing just fine" that was a nice way of saying stop trying to do my job and to pipe down. All you did wad make it look like the crew was inadequate and were slacking on their job. Just document the trip. Nobody watches in order to learn the background of the other anglers. This crew and others seem not to happy with the way you conduct yourself. This is a business. How would you like someone geabbing your camera and filming the trip they're own way and in their own style? Relax please
@cousinjim112 күн бұрын
At that time the bite was going off and every crew member was handling their own situation. I have gaffed thousands of fish and am a Captain who use to run charters, when the job needs done call Cousin Jim. If you notice I never say anything bad about the Boat, Crew, or Captain the commentary is for you the audience so there is an understanding of what is going on and what that fisherman is experiencing. Hopefully I will continue to get better at showing this life experience as it is happening. I hope you continue to watch & give me tips as I grow. A day on the water can make a lifetime of memories! Cousin Jim thanks for understanding

@cousinjim1 Really! Where did you run out of? What are you rated up to? In my 56 yrs of knowing dozens upon dozens of captains from Ventura to Diego, some friends, some good friends and some old roommates . I can guarantee not one would allow passengers to perform a crew members job. Not a single one. I was only trying to make you aware so you don't eventually wear out your welcome or lose any free trip privileges you may have down there. But you keep on doing your way. Also fill me in on your ticket and ports o' call. Good luck
