About being _maniacs._ They don't do unintentional "let's just include everything to flex our budget" stuff. It would be a waste, and it would shoot them in the foot at this stage of their career. As others have said, there is a complex underlying storyline that continues in this video -- which, at four years after debut, has four years of preceding story content and context that you haven't seen. Additionally, as others mentioned, the details in the MV tie directly to the lyrics/message of the song and theme of the album, but no one was paying any attention to those lyrics and thus missed any cues or context there as well.
