Thanks for your kind comments about my design and I hope that you will enjoy 'The Spanish Road' and the whole C3i 38 games and fantastic articles. It is a short-time game play but really intense and fun about a very important part of the fascinating history of the 30 years' war. If you have any questions, feel free to ask and I will gladly answer as soon as possible. Best regards from Spain.

Good thing I saw this review as I can´t stand games that are not in a box. They are impossible to stack with normal boxed games because of the need for dice. Saved me money in not buying it. Thank you for that. A shame, really, that some publishers choose to make games in bags because some such games are brilliant in terms of game play.
@TheFortinbrasEffect Жыл бұрын
This is the Print & Play version: I got the files and made it myself; bagging it was my own decision. There is a boxed version, but for me it is cheaper and more fun to buy the P&P version, because the cost of shipping is almost equal to the price of the game.

I hade the old Hawk starterset. Good game but way to much releaeses including a second game (Dropfleet) made it all or nothing so I stopped playing... Was never an expert but nice with a small scale and mission focus.

Stop calling those NATO symbols, they were on D- DAY invasion maps long b4 NATO existed.
@TheFortinbrasEffect Жыл бұрын
Of course. It's just the most used title for them, nowadays. "Silhouettes" vs. "NATO symbols", the most common choice. But you're right; more so: they were in use, in an earlier variant in WW1.

You probably already know this, but the two cards outside the box, I believe, are a bonus afforded to those who bought directly from the publisher. Also, it seems the game deals only with the siege, and thus does not include the relieving Polish-Lithuanian forces under Jan III Sobieski. So it looks like the game is a race against time for the Turks to break into the city before the allied forces arrive.

Many may know the soldier on the new version is Rick Rescola who was actually in the battle. Rescola was killed in the Twin Towers attack of Sept 11 2001.

It's fantastic. The rules are fun to read, but by no means is it easy or introductory.

Kind of misleading with such a big box?

Excellent and informative review of what appears to be a good game. Really like the counters and maps. Out of interest, the artwork on the front is taken from the 6th October Panorama museum in Heliopolis, Cairo, see link below, en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/6th_of_October_Panorama Also, Jordan did join in the war against Israel (with Iraq) on 16th October 1973!

I just found several places online where the starter kit and additional ships are still available. And production isn't halted officially, and even if there are some options of 3D printing whatever you need. If I were you I wouldn't hesitate at this point, as it looks like when it comes to a compromise between good mechanics and realism it is a very good option for age of sail miniatures.

While the camera may be a tad too zoomed in, this isn't nearly as bad as some here have made it out to be. In fact, thanks to the extra zoom, I was able to see the thickness of some of the components better. I appreciate that. Thanks for the video.

Thanks for the flip-through. Looks interesting. I've dabbled in miniatures. Books from people like Donald Featherstone are great and you can get them on ebay. Maybe one of the best I've seen lately is by Henry Hyde: The Wargaming Compendium. It is an excellent summary of just about everything you can think of: painting, models, terrain, rules, history. It contains lots of eye candy because he is part of the magazine Miniature Wargames. I am pretty sure it is available at Amazon & your local bookstore can probably order it because it came out just a few years ago.
