Thank you, good to know. It's better when they run smoothly.

Why are the blocks perpendicular to each other? Why start in the middle of one? Lots of why's.

Ok , so this is a force multiplier correct ? If so how do you calculate the amount of pull before the rope fails. N other words, can’t he rated rope strength be multiplied by the amount of pulley sleeves ? Anyone ?

we used to pull 3 to 5 tons of ship offshore by using this method. Big ships were pulled offshore by using another method manually. It reduces manpower to pull heavy objects.

This video stinks because the explanations are not clear and the camera cuts off the knot tying.

Do believe that was the cow hitch? What I like most about the arborist world is how often people feel the need to reinvent a knot when the old one worked perfectly fine. Like a bunch of women changing outfits. Ps I’m assuming that the knot you showed is the golden oldy that works and still works bloody good for everyone today!

This is a bowline on a bite, not a double bowline on a bite.

Using my wife’s account, to leave a comment. Horrible camera work and a very weak job of describing how to do that. When you want to describing how to do something in an instructional video. Maybe try and imagine your audience like it’s fourth graders so you can dumb it down. Sorry to be so harsh, but that was a waste of five minutes.

Done correctly, learned to do it this way and used at my job for the next 41 years.

yeah this a not a double bowline on a bight , just a bowline on a bight.

i came here thinking it was some kind of new bowline on a bight because of the Double part. i was mistaken.

I started building a block and tackle system with 4 pulleys in each block. How would that differ?

good job - i'd recommend dressing it at the end. Having the rope twisted will weaken the knot.

Becket is basically a clove around the rope. Also helpful video. But much more helpful if the blocks were hung.

Most people refer to this simply as "Bowline on a Bight" -- without the prefix "double".

I confused when you said top and bottom. Which is the top and which is the bottom?
@michaelsnell40344 жыл бұрын
I believe top and bottom are relative to the surface you are rigging the ropes on.

Really appreciate this ! Borrowed the 6 pulley block and tackle, but had no way to figure out how to use it. Now I'm ready to go lowering 5 - 120 pound blocks from an old chimney down through the living room ceiling. Thanks again.
