How does the skylight panel seal? I'm sure you probably caulking the end with a pivot point is but what about down the spine?? How would it not keep the window shut or crack on trying to open?!

Thanks so much for your comment/questions. First - I was frustrated that I could not figure out a way to send a picture to you - so let me quote the instructions. From page 62, Step 14, Attach Roof Assemblies to Frame Part 3, section F: "Apply silicone caulking on the top of the Continuous Hinge so the silicone completely covers the pivot joints." That seemed odd to us, but since the silicone remains flexible after curing, it doesn't inhibit the movement of the panel. Secondly, if I understand correctly, there really isn't an attempt to completely seal, that is, make the roof vent water tight. It's my belief that the rationale for applying sealant where they advise it is to keep water from collecting/pooling against wood, thereby inhibiting rot. Since the lower edge of the vent panel is left "open", a little bit of water is expected to drip down into the greenhouse, which my wife just confirmed on ours - a couple of spots on the floor directly below the corners of the bottom edge of the vent panel. Just for reference, the link to the online version of the manual I used for this reply is here: yardistrystructures.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/YM11945_6.7_x_7.8_Meridian_Greenhouse_July_29_2022.pdf I hope this answers your questions. Thanks again for your comment. Martin

Yeah Suzie, last two posted videos had music from the same movie! It's what was rolling around in my head while shooting. And, after compiling the segments, it was the same length as the video!! Some of the music phrases matched the video transitions. A lucky coincidence!

@martinleif2872
@martinleif2872 Ай бұрын
Hi Sue - it came with the kit. Which I think was something Yardistry added between 2022 and 2023. Here's my rationale for the thought. We found the manual that came with our kit was dated from Oct. 2023. But the online versions for the same manual were from mid 2022, as I recall. The older manuals did NOT have the installation instruction page for the vent screen. In my manual, it's part information is: "Vent Mesh", (Y20118-852). My hope is that you could request one by contacting Yardistry directly. I hope that helps. And thank you so much for your comment.

Thanks Dubi - it was fun although because of my OCD, I really strove for perfect accuracy - which along with avoiding working when it got too hot - made this build take as long as it did. Then - having to work outside in the mornings, the release of the videos was delayed by having to pick all the cut points and deciding what to a) keep, b) keep at normal speed, c) speed up to 4x or d) make even faster than that w/o audio. Then find and time music to go into what I call the "hyper speed" segments. So much for the "editor's blues"! Really appreciate you comments.

2 questions. If there a handle on the inside of the door so if you are inside you can pull the door closed to the magnets. And if you are inside and it is really windy out if there maybe a hook and eye inside. The door closer probably is enough but just thinking of different scenarios. I had to do that for my greenhouse in South Dakota.
@martinleif2872
@martinleif2872 Ай бұрын
You know, one of the videos we watched mentioned adding an interior handle. We'll see what Brenda wants based on her experiences with the building. So far, I've apparently adjusted the vent to open only around 75 degrees, instead of the low 60s it was doing before. I'm going to waste some time and some day do a time-lapse of the vent opening and closing!

It's a good thing you had to move the greenhouse away from the shed otherwise it looks like the runoff from the roof would have been constantly hitting the side of the shed. Great build.

Thanks Debbie! The more I think about it - I've seen and done videos where time was "sped up" compared to "time lapse". Since the audio in a "speed ramped" video is more or less useless, the fact that time lapse, or as my camcorder calls it, "Interval Recording" doesn't record ANY audio, it's nice to have smaller files to work with.
