More people need to see this video, cassettes can sound really good, especially if you make recordings on chrome and metal tapes on a high end or professional tape deck, but remember you also need a high end or professional deck to play back, this does not mean just buy any name brand player because most of them were average and awful

Sound of the cassettes DOES NOT SUCK.After the Vinyl it's the audio cassettes, make no mistake. CD s are no where close to listening comfort when compared. The Vinyl and the cassettes should make an urgent COME BACK. The Vinyl are there, but expensive, They should be more in numbers along with the audio cassettes. The online music has finished off everything.

Let's suppose you have an average CD player or streamer with a pretty ordinary digital-to-analog converter (DAC), and you've only ever listened to music through that system. But one day, you hear a high-end DAC in a store, one you'll never buy, but they let you compare it, and you realize that what you thought sounded good doesn't sound quite as good anymore... So, did the CD you were listening to not sound better? And what if I told you that if you have a turntable with a needle, cartridge, and decent preamp that costs much less than that DAC you heard, and it sounds just as good or even better? Arguments? It's simple: if the source of the vinyl you're playing is digital, in the mastering process, they dumped it onto the vinyl master plate with a DAC, not necessarily the one you have at home, but a high-quality one. So when you play the vinyl with your equipment, there's no digital conversion process, and you're reproducing the quality of that high-quality converter. It's easy to understand, right? On the other hand, if the source of the vinyl and mastering process is entirely analog (old or new vinyl that assures you of this), there was never an ADC involved, and you're playing back the dump of the original master tape. What's better than that? Is it easy to understand? But now, don't come and tell me that according to Nyquist, it's enough to preserve the original source, because yes, that's the theory, but when implementing it, we always encounter different problems like jitter and THD in the process, as well as, above all, the fact that the DACs we usually have at home come with a sufficient conversion chip but then it goes to waste because they don't implement a buffer with decent operational amplifiers or discrete output, losing the transients that cannot be appreciated with comparative tests over the internet...

Cd sounds better in older years. Now the new vinyls and re-releases from old vinyls also are so over compressed with normalizing and gain at 98-99 distortion, hard bass and closed sound with no high end. I have listened the same awful sound at vinyl from Taylor Swift Midnights and the digital format for example. It's not worth to buy a vinyl at 50 dollars with this awful sound. Same with re-releases from old classics, they are so digitized worst than mp3s. It's not matter of vinyl or cd, it's matter of mastering

I use my tape deck a lot. I enjoy recording shorter versions of compellation CD's like The Stones 40 Licks for example. Way too much music on it and I could care less for songs after Tattoo You. But the quality of the new CD's are excellent. My earlier Stones CD's like Exile & Sticky Fingers that I bought in the 1990's are lousy compared to 40 Licks and the London Singles collection box set wasn't any better. So 40 Licks became my "25 Licks"! I did the same for a 3 cd collection of Burt Bachrach. I cut it to a 60 minute tape. Even a type-1 sounds fine. I suppose if I had a remote on my CD Player I wouldn't bother. (Nah!)I recently recorded over a 90 min Maxell XLII I initially recorded in 1990. I put together some early Beatles from the US Capitol Albums Box Set. Sort of my own version of the Red Album. It sounds great!

What bugs me is how they mess up all the old music when they "remaster" it. They turn up all the volume levels, and it just sounds obnoxious. Just compared my old Joshua Tree U2 cassette to google music. The tape wins by miles. So much more dynamic and warm. Just feels alive, whereas the new streaming version is fatiguing to listen to. Thanks for the video!

You really don't have to listen very carefully to see that the CD version that is played right at beginning has a wider dynamic range than the LP, then the techniques player. Now what I don't understand is the CD after that doesn't sound as good especially when it's plays next to the second turntable and even the techniques player? Something doesn't seem right. Also, the comments this video from individuals and others on KZfaq continue to comment that vinyl has more dynamic range, and that is not true. It's plain physics that CDs have a wider dynamic, range as vinyl only goes up to about 60 dB, and CDs go up to at least 90 or 95 decibels and above. I think the bette or correct terminology to use is that vinyl sounds warmer, less semblance etc . Before anyone criticizes me I definitely like vinyl better than CD, but I do use both of them in my listening.
@cjsvinyl7 ай бұрын
_"Before anyone criticizes me"_ So....you want to make false statements against physics claiming you prefer a medium such as vinyl with absolutely no content on your "channel" to back up your words without anyone responding to you on a world-wide website about how any of them could possibly disagree with you? What's wrong with your brain??!! The decibel state you made, false. You want to speak scientifically regarding physics. Where's your theorem on sinusoidal wave frequencies versus bitrate signals?? You haven't provided any! You literally pulled your numbers off the top of your head and pawned them off as actual physics! Who do you think you are?! You've literally not provided any details related to actual physics whatsoever. The measurement of bandwidth between sinusoidal waves are literally wider if you've ever actually looked at a spectrum analyzer before. You clearly haven't, yet you still act pretentious! Why? What purpose does it really serve someone who has absolutely nothing to show for it on their empty channel? The sound of vinyl also varies depending on the brand of turntable, the cartridge, AND if the LP is half-speed mastered. All of these things matter when taking in consideration of playing vinyl records. That's why the other turntable carries more clarity in the sound. A real vinyl enthusiast takes time to learn these things and experiment with them. A pretentious person such as you makes random false claims or says _"something just is"_ because you heard it on TV or read it off a website. You're a fake, and you have completely voided any and all validity to your joke of a comment.

New vinyls and re-releases from old vinyls, for example here in Greece, remastered vinyls from old classics, play at 98-99 db and they are awful. In my opinion the standards to cd should be 90-95 or 96 db and not more because they distort. Unfortunately they make more than 97 nowadays for example Taylor's Swift and Billie Eilish songs are at 99db and I can't listen the high end. Old remasters also should not go more than 94db because ear concentrates to loudness and bass.

I have around 500 cassettes, all from late 90s and early 2000s and berely about 5 number of them have sound deterioration which were caused by keeping in unsuitable weather conditions anyways. Means if you keep these good, they perform great. Same goes for CDs as well but if they work, sounds superior but went bad, there's no repairability.
