Can a Gold Star member join the military and still keep benefits?
@TheMOAAChannel
@TheMOAAChannel 13 күн бұрын
That's a good question - do you mean if a Gold Star child ended up joining with regard to the education benefits? If so, apparently there was a lawsuit recently that addressed whether a recipient of education benefits could also receive Post- 9/11 GI Bill benefits. I believe the answer is yes but there is a total limit of 45 months. In the case of dual-military households, I understand that if one spouse dies on active duty, the survivor receives SBP/DIC even if still on active duty themselves.

@@TheMOAAChannel Yes I know it and thank you for the response. I am very curious about the two East German filmmakers and the production in general. The surviving POWs don't talk about it. It would be a fascinating topic for your channel. Thank you for the excellent work.

This would directly help me. I was active duty 15 years and I was injured in Iraq and was medically retired. I would have stayed my 20. but I physically could not. 5 years away and I lost a lot. Thank you for working on this.

This garbage never ceases to amaze me. They go to a war they didn't have the brains and guts to resist. Bad sh*t happens to them. The "bad guys" won, they lost. (Yes, they did). Then they go back 50 years later to the bad guys country to celebrate and revisit old and bad memories. In doing so they support the economy and recognize the Communist system they fought to save the people from. All of these people survived a bullet from the people they wrongly tried to kill. Once they got back to America they should have kept walking and NEVER look back at that page of their early youth. And a lot of these clowns would be the same people that would call Draft/Vietnam resistors...like myself....cowards and lacking a sense of duty and service. They're pitiful and embarrassing.

I was 10 in 1976 and was very much aware of the war. My mother cried when the POWs came home in 1973, even though we didn’t know anyone who served in Vietnam except for my Dad’s cousin who had returned in 1970. I had two neighbors, one on one side, one on the other that were Navy officers, but one was actually CIA, (I asked him), and we had an FBI agent across the street. I learned a lot just sitting on their front porches. In any case I always felt very attached to the war and the pows that were left behind, especially in Laos.

Linebacker II operation in 1972 was kept secret until U.S. allowed to publish in 1999. But Vietnam published in 2021. Battle of 1972 in Vietnamese version Battle of Dien Bien Phu Tren Khong. I watched to the end. Can't believe 30 years old radar 3cm made in 1942 was connected to Sam2 made in 1950 and then knocked down B-52 in real films during battle. In fairy, should mentioned electronic radar box of F-4, B-52 was repaired and then used it as part guidelines Sam2 missiles. At that time 1972, Soviet with Sam3,4,5 and 6 but won't send to Vietnam. I saw in films few U.S. pilot disrespect ill discipline. Used signs language time to time. No go home because their fault. Many MIA forever can't find because ill discipline. Attack NVA rob AK-47 that's why grenade in their mouth.

This is problematic. You have warriors forced out at 19.5 years and they are not concurrent recipients of VA disability and Retirement, however, they collect CRSC. I also collect CRSC and was forced out in 2010 when I re-enlisted in Baghdad after the Golden Mosque in 2006 was blown up. I enlisted for an additional 6 years as a young PFC. I was wounded in 2007 on my second rotation as part of the Iraq Surge and completed my tour. After redeployment back to the States, I was forced into the WTU and eventually forced into a Medical Retirement due to injuries. I had a promising career as an infantryman! Dropped my packet for Special Forces (candidate), only to be barred by Army. In just 4 years, I completed 26 months of combat! I didn't want to be forced out the military. All I wanted to do was recover enough from my injuries to make it a career. Nope. No wonder enlistment sucks. No one should join the military if we keep getting screwed over.
