I have a compression gas spring that wont allow me to place it without compressing. Its for a murphy bed anyway around it?
@KirbyMoyers
@KirbyMoyers 6 ай бұрын
That's pretty uncommon -- most mechanism designs have a position in which the spring is unloaded, allowing initial assembly or replacement. All I can suggest is to somehow wrangle the bed into an unloaded position. Sorry can't be more help.

This feels like one of those job interviews 🤣go over.... But I like how they represented themselves professionally!!! Some words like always to any VIDEO are incredibly hard to make out, I THOUGHT She said Saw hinge then heard Sauce Hinge... Go figure, the CAPTION doesn't always catch words they say..... Well, God bless you all, Sincerely, ~Paul

I was trying to replace the gas springs on my canopy by prying them off, but I was hesitant to put any more pressure on the connection. I viewed this video and job finished in about three minutes. Thanks much for simple, clear, and concise instructions.

I contacted them for help specifying a hinge for an OEM application I'm working on and all I got was "we do not make recommendations on applications for customers", so yeah, not so sure about that. LOL

Thank you! I couldn’t get my doors to close all the way after I repainted a couple of nightstands. After watching your video I realized I had the left and right hinges mixed up. Finally got the doors on properly!

May I know in which direction the damping takes place for the gas spring? I read online that there are two types of gas springs, one is an extension type and the other one is a compression gas spring? Is it true? I rarely see people talking about the direction of the damping for gas springs.
@KirbyMoyers
@KirbyMoyers Жыл бұрын
The extension motion is damped. This is one of the features of a gas spring over a regular helical steel spring -- there is force, but it is damped, so your door does not slam open violently. The damping force is in opposition to the gas force, slowing down the spring motion. The gas springs described here are the commonly-used kind that provide force in the extension direction.

What is the effect of left vs right when it comes to mounting these hinges? On a small door for example.

Gas springs from STABILUS INOX, usually sold by Attwood, have retainer clips in the heads that can come out and get lost. Stabilus does not supply replacements! These are the clips that you must compress using needle-nose plyers in order to remove the spring from the nub. Very irritating when you've lost the darn clip!

I have a 79” long door that is 27” wide and using it on a storage cabinet on a trailer. The weight of the door 60 pounds What size gas struts should I buy? I I tried a 20” by 200 pound because I have a 130 pound kayak that is mounted on top of the door and was hoping to open door with kayak on. But without the kayak on we could no close the door and when pushed brackets bent. Also the door lies into a door frame and is locked with a dead bolt. When struts were added some how it pushed the door out 1/8” and door would not fit into the opening. Could not figure out how it moved since it is held in place with 3 barn doors tule hinges

Could you please explain what you mean by not using the gas spring as emotion stop?
@anthonyquint3448
@anthonyquint3448 Жыл бұрын
You should have something else stopping the full opening of your object being lifted, rather than letting the extremity of the strut (where it can go no further) be the 'stopper'. The wording in the KZfaq clip is 'motion stop' rather than 'emotion'...probably a simple typo.

Is the direction of the gas spring important? I was told the big cylinder must be at the bottom but I m not convinced.. in fact most videos I saw, the gas cylinder is on top and the rod is bottom.. I always thought it doesn't matter..
@RRAADDIISSKKUULL
@RRAADDIISSKKUULL 2 жыл бұрын
Late answer to this . but with the cylinder at the top the strut stays lubricated better and requires less maintenance.
