In a search for the 'Holy Grail in audio' you should avoid any expensive home network investment if you ONLY stream music from the many streaming services. Anyone who says otherwise is selling 'snake oil' in this. I tell you my thoughts about it: It starts with a first step in the recording studio where a song is recorded, how high-quality is the recording equipment, how does the recording engineer see this recording or rather, how does he prefer to hear this recording? Every recording engineer has his own taste on how it should sound and adds that to it. Once all intermediate steps have been completed, the question is how the streaming service will receive this recording. Is it a master from the record studio or a recording from a pressing, which one is it? Many choices. Once streaming services place the record on their servers, it has to be distributed, and this costs a lot of money. Who of the streaming services assure me that they have not yet done some extra compression to make the files smaller, just look at MQA who tried this and has since been removed by Tidal. Consider on how much equipment the audio files have to go before they throwing it to the world wide web; many servers, switches, cables, etc in the streaming service of your choice. Next are these files transported to end up with your own internet supplier. Which in turn they sent them again through countless switches, peripherals, line amplifiers to your home. And is this all done via specific audiophile equipment, I don't think so. Then you will try to improve these (already very degraded) files delivered by a Chinese cheap router from your internet supplier, thru some very costly switches, hmmm. To end an annoyingly long story short, I would only invest in an costly audiophile switch, power supply and cables if I have ripped the music files myself on a NAS or memory card coming from a good record or CD to send them to my streamer from a home network who is not by any means connected to the internet supplier. That would make any investment valuable.

Om die reden wijzig ik niets in mij set up...Een kennis met hele goede oren hoorde laatst een hele zachte brom uit de subs komen...Gelukkig hoorde ik die zelf niet!

I would like to point out that you did not use the 'transfer mode', represented by the icon of a square with an arrow pointing inwards. In this way the music signal does not directly travel to the 6000N, but the 6000N acts like an end-point reciever not a true streamer, your phone or tablet doing the actual streaming. So it travels inderectly thru your tablet or phone, not an ideal situation I would think. Or the other way round, use the transfer mode, and the primary signal is handed of and runs thru the 6000N, your phone or tablet acts only as an remote. This may elevate the sonic performance of the 6000N...

Thank you for the research, I feel my black CDT sounds so amazing I could forgive it the odd scratch.

I have a CDT6000 and love it. My 30yr old NAD CD died so I had to get it. I play it through a Schiit Modi Multibit 2 DAC, Schiit Lyr 2 pre amp, Schiit Gjallarhorn power amp into Royd Herald or Minstrel speakers. Lovely sound. I did a comparison with my Phillips Bluray BDP3000 and the CDT6000 whooped it both using coax out into Modi Multibit. Very happy.

Absurd that companies will go after reviewers that give honest opinions. Instead of finding out what they didn't like about it and attempting to improve the product, they immediately threaten the reviewer with lawsuits. Good on the sites and vendors that break off relations with these companies: they are doing the consumer a HUGE favor. So any idea if the DAC in the WiiM is any good? These lawsuits from audio manufacturers are just bullquack tbh. Reviews are opinions and trying to stop them will only amplify them.

Once again, another non-sensical video about the unproven idiocy of double terminals. I have yet to read, see, or hear anything that validates the improvement in the sound of speakers that are bi-wired. Those cheap straps make no sense, and even less if they come with a pricey, high quality pair of speakers. Stupid is as stupid does.

Hi, I just received my R8 last week ( June 28, 2024) after only a 2 week wait. I purchased from China HiFi on EBay for $1,380.66 plus TAX, but no extra for shipping. I did receive the new improved updated version. I had a few questions, and I got them answered the next day. I've got 12 hours on the amp now (EL34), and it's great, and getting better with each listening session.

I went to buy some speakers. I brought a source and amp to test them with. The seller had a disconnected jumper. When I tested them they heard them like never before and didn't want to sell them anymore. I recommend using the connector of the High or the positive and the Low for the negative. That way if the jumper isn't connected there will be NO SOUND instead of just woofer or tweeter.
