Damn, two ours waiting for CSX, when i was there last Monday they spent 10-15 minutes at the interchange before coming up with 417 and 416. Great video ill have to chase again soon to get 416!
@DieselElevators17 сағат бұрын
It's indeed my experience that the interchange swap takes 10-20 minutes. I quickly ran into town when they went to the interchange, and then sat around for what seemed like forever. Upon arrival, they waited for the CSX local (L030) to return from Jordan. From what I could see, the inbound reefer had been left on the westward stub track, meaning the OMID couldn't grab it and return to Sodus as it would've been on the wrong end. When CSX arrived, they pulled the car high so that the OMID crew could grab it. I believe there is a runaround track up the OMID within a mile of the interchange, so I'm not exactly sure why they didn't shove it up that far and then situate themselves on the right end, but then again, the OMID always seems to be doing strange and interesting things. Thanks for watching!

@DieselElevators24 күн бұрын
@@kellyswoodyard I have quite a few chases where there are many shots as you describe. This chase specifically did not provide much opportunity to do so, the railroad doesn't have many places where one can pull off the road, be next to the tracks, but nowhere near a crossing. There is a lot of switching action at Helena Chemicals in this production which features the sound of the locomotive.

Jagow road, Wheatfield. Still south of Niagara Falls Airport/ NYANG Niagara Falls NY.
@DieselElevators29 күн бұрын
I find it nearly impossible to tell exactly what townships are where, especially when close to the borders. Google Maps lists this as Niagara Falls, which is why I labeled it as such. I have seen other people list this as Wheatfield, and others also as Niagara Falls. I wish things were more clear.
@cmdrflake29 күн бұрын
@@DieselElevators Well, it depends on which agency you’re dealing with. To the Post Office, it’s Niagara Falls, the town of Wheatfield plows the residential streets, except for Niagara Falls Boulevard and River road, which NYSDOT is responsible for plowing. It has water and sewer service from a county department. Don’t even try to consider where the land line phone and cable companies refer to where you are. It’s not as screwed up as, say Ontario, which is changing political and economic identifications seemingly without asking the residents.

@DieselElevatorsАй бұрын
Thanks for watching! With my new camera and microphone setup, those ALCO sounds are crispier than ever. There are definitely exciting changes taking place up here! To answer your question on your other comment, the typical rule of thumb lately has been Wednesdays and Fridays for the Falls Road. However, with Tropicana traffic coming in, scheduling might change a bit, so I would recommend looking around for more updated information as their new operations settle into place. Word on the street is that a Brockport job will be switching cars nearly every day, though that isn't a guarantee they will take to the main every day.

No, the 1802 is still in Lockport. It isn't being used right now as it is being repaired after striking a tow truck a few weeks ago. It'll be put back into service soon. 2002 and 1804 were sent up to the Falls Road to help with the Tropicana traffic, so we now have 4 locomotives.

What’s the story of the F unit?
@DieselElevatorsАй бұрын
It's an EMD E8A, and there's a second one behind it. Both are ex-New York Central. Neither is operational, and likely won't ever be, at least not at their current home. They need hundreds of thousands of dollars of work, and the operating logistics here don't make them practical.
