what is the distance of the wheel hub face to the horizontal flat of the caliper for measurement that is needed for the wheel spoke clearances? I don't see it in your template.

Interesting 🤔. I already know about the Budget 280mm Mini Cooper rotor with DC type R calipers on regular DC Integra Knuckles... This got me thinking 🤔.... Could the TSX/ 8th Gen SI 300 mm rotor work in a regular DC Integra knuckle? 🤔🤔🤔🤔 Would a regular RSX or RSX Type S Bearing And 5 lug RSX / type S Hub Fit into the DC Integra knuckle and then I could bolt in the TSX brake calipers/brackets to work with the 300 mm rotor??
@FormulaDeltaOG
@FormulaDeltaOG Ай бұрын
So the DC2 Integra had 2 knuckle sizes, the DC2R had a bigger wheel bearing which is similar to a CRV Hub/Wheel Bearing where as the other DC2 had a smaller wheel bearing. The RSX-S 5 lug hub will fit into the DC2R knuckle, I have not tried to fit the brake rotors or the calipers from the RSX onto the DC2R but it should fit with some slight potential offset adjustments. I do not think this combination will work for the smaller bearing DC2 knuckles.

@@FormulaDeltaOG Ok.. Looks like my only option is the First Gen CRV knuckles, I haven't been able to find any, USDM or JDM, DC 2 Type R knuckles. The only thing I'm not sure would be the Outer Tie Rod placement for CRV. I will have to get a pair of CRV and try it out. Thanks for the response.

I really enjoyed watching this video. I have been looking around the internet and I think there might be an even better OEM BBK Option. I have seen the Honda Odyssey community use a similar Genesis Brembo setup using a MDX rotor. So it might be possible to use the 07-13 MDX Caliper with the Nissan rotor. I think this would result in a powerful braking setup without the need for large/wide aftermarket wheels OR fancy adapters.

Any thoughts on using 08+ crv calipers (dual piston) and matching rotors?
@FormulaDeltaOG
@FormulaDeltaOG 10 ай бұрын
Dual piston calipers will be an upgrade over their single piston counterparts. Looking at the caliper shows that the mounting bolts are 14mm which means you will need to drill the holes on your knuckles to fit. The rotor is 296mm diameter and 28mm thick which is similar diameter (300mm) as the 8th, 9th Gen Si and TSX, but thicker. So the rotor will have more heat capacity than those previously mentioned rotors. I have not tried to use this combination before so I cannot comment on fitment.

It’s not a direct bolt on for the rear Genesis calipers, as the bolt hole spacing doesn’t match up to the RSX upright. You would have to get some kind of custom adapters made to get them to fit. So it can be made to fit around a variety of rotors

Not 100% sure about the Acura RDX, but there are forum posts about a 2017 Honda Pilot that fit the Genesis Brembos with some bolt bushings because the Genesis Brembos uses 12mm bolts and the Pilot brakes are mounted with 14mm bolts. I have a 1995 civic EX coupe 1.6L SOHC VTEC, I bought CRV calipers which I believe it is the same as a ITR caliper , 280mm mini rotors, and TSX pads. Do I need to upgrade my Master cylinder or proportioning valve or booster ? I am only upgrading the front calipers for now and leaving my Stock rear drum brakes . I would appreciate your help please and thank you.
@FormulaDeltaOG
@FormulaDeltaOG Жыл бұрын
If you are leaving the rears as drums then there’s no need to change the proportioning valve. As for the MC and booster, it is more of a personal preference, going to a bigger MC will decrease the amount of line pressure for the same pedal force input and reduce the amount of pedal travel. If you choose to use the existing MC the pedal travel will be longer with the ITR calipers. If you go to a bigger MC (7/8”, 15/16” or 1”) there will be less pedal travel. Bigger booster will give you more vacuum assist, effectively reducing the amount of pedal force you need to generate the same line pressure. Do you prefer a heavier or lighter brake pedal? Do you prefer more of less pedal travel?

Not really, other than a slight step in the pad wear. Would recommend looking at the Sentra SER rotors, which has slightly bigger inside diameter, which gets rid of the inside overhang. Someone on Instagram recommended this option as an alternative to rogue rotors.

@@FormulaDeltaOG awesome thanks! Any issues with noise from the brake swap? I've been reading on a forum and there were several complaints about a squealing noise.
@FormulaDeltaOG
@FormulaDeltaOG 2 жыл бұрын
@@FieldGenEJ That’s more about the brake pad compound selection than the caliper and rotor choice. I know for sure that the Hawk HP+ squeals a lot, by design. Also the very high performance/racing pads might squeal as well, mainly because it’s purely performance oriented and noise is not a consideration during design.

Thank you for all your work puting this info together and showing everything. Great stuff! I have a doubt that I think you can easly clarify: I have a 8th gen Si, and I am considering changing only the rotor to the TSX/Accord one, 300mm 28mm thick, as I dont need more braking power, but just a bit of thermal headroom. Will those fit the calipers straight in? Or will I need to mod them somehow? Main concern is if the calipers have enough clearence for the extra 3mm. Thanks in advance mate. Hope to see more videos in your channel :)
@FormulaDeltaOG
@FormulaDeltaOG 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Paulo, thanks for visiting the channel and subscribing, I would recommend also going to the TSX calipers with the TSX rotors. Technically speaking with some caliper bracket clearancing and used brake pads, you could probably get the TSX rotors to fit with 8th gen Si Calipers. My concern is that the caliper bracket doesnt have enough room for the increased rotor thickness of the TSX. For the cost of the calipers its not really worth this hassle.

@@FormulaDeltaOG thanks once more for the info! Sadly here in Brazil it is quite hard to find those calipers. Actually the Acura TSX wasnt even sold here haha. But... I know by looking the specs that some Accords have the same rotors on them, which I can order for a reasonable price. As the rotors on said Accords are the same probably the calipers are also the same, but I am sure it will be hard to find em. I think the number of these cars ever sold in Brazil is less than a month worth of sales in the US...
