Great vlog guys. I've always wanted to go into the grounds of that abandoned building, so in a way I'm glad you didn't get there, I'd be jealous lol. in the opposite direction to the way you walked (going toward Varteg) you would have found a huge cemetery. Some of the gravestones are amazing, and part of that graveyard was used in the film Dream Horse, the film about the famous Cefn Fforest horse Dream Alliance. There are some amazing places to visit in Blaenavon, I've yet to get to the museum myself, but hope to do so soon.

I enjoyed the walk around Blaenavon! Lovely place :) P.s I think interred is just a nicer way of saying buried. So that man's body is buried in Australia, probably just wanted him named on the stone so the family in the UK have somewhere to go to pay their respects as getting to Aus would be a lot more difficult :P

@Spudboys it's about 15 miles from Cardiff, can get the 122 and ya it's easy, you get to thr coop in tonyrefail then walk down bryn rhedyn, then about half way down the road there's a metal gate on left follow the path up the hill straight on and you see it under a big tree.

Because of the 60s bestselling Alexander Cordell book called 'Rape of the Fair Country'. Last time I went there, Big Pit was still working and the whole place definitely looked a bit ravaged. The place is obviously a hell of a lot cleaner and greener than it used to be.

Great vlog, Blaenavon world heritage centre you walked past (it’s in the old school) is worth a visit and Keepers Pond is great too, you were close to it when you went for a walk at the end of the video 👍🏼

@@Spudboys Yeh from Blaenavon to Llanrumney. BTW Rape as in Rape of the Fair Country means to subjugate the locals and destroy the land by the English landlords, coalpit and Ironworks owners. You should have gone down Big Pit. The history is a real eye opener. I almost sobbed at the stories of hard life of the pit ponies.

@@Spudboys Well if you carried on down past the allotments there is Pill park... last time I walked through there, there was a burnt out car but it was a bit nicer when I was a kid. Although the council got rid of the big slide which was devastating!!! You just missed the house I grew up in when you walked down from the waterloo and went by the industrial state but me and my friends used to play curby around the block by there as it was a quieter road compared to Alexandra road... Loads of birthday parties and wedding receptions in the West of England too, it was a brill pub, sad to see it's not open anymore.. ahh the memories man, thank you!! I don't go there often, especially not for a walk around.. It's not changed a lot since I left 11 years ago when I was 16... it's got a tad more anti-social but the good bits of the community still outweigh the bad I think :)

Glebelands park used to have a miniature monorail that went around the park, on the side where the used to have the stadium/race track. The white rails were there years after it has stopped.
