Use a white moss thanator bone as by far the best. Use the 3rd ammo type in the staff sling to stun it then use a high damage heavy bow or spear thrower to hit it in the weakspot. Using navos mushroom pie and noodle soup to get the pale reed and lillyweed bass my spear thrower is 450 damage.

Don't forget about the Grove friends. Every in-game day at mignight a grove of Flow Trees spawn in Bahari, with anywhere from 5-13 trees. You get abton of wood from going to these for very little effort

As of the latest patch the shoud is positioned slightly different. Whole route remains the same with the exception at the the Sun Temple. You cannot follow the same path around the mountain, as there is shroud blocking your way. Buuut, you can get over/through the mountain "minecraft " style. Gear farm is still working as of today.
