Dude, your landscaping is looking good. My yard looks terrible after the hurricane. Instead of cleaning it up, I just went camping, lol, and now it's 1 month later, and I'm having to deal with it in this heat. No fun.

For the redneck jakuzi see if you can find an old US Army MKT immersion heater. Maybe you can get lucky and find one at a surplus store or such. When I was stationed at the 101st in Kentucky, we made ourselves an outdoor shower using an RV water pump, RV shower head, a 55 gallon drum, a 12v battery, and an immersion heater. It only took a few minutes to heat the water enough for some hot showers in the field. Be careful, they are known for removing eyebrows when you light them. They run best on a mixture of diesel and gasoline (50/50). That was the purest of luxuries when we went out for more than 2 weeks at a time!

Did I spot a new Starlink in the back ground? If so, what are your thoughts on it? I'm starting to have issues with ours not connecting for a half hour or more when we first set up on a new site. It's really kinda frustrating, because after getting set up, I always like to sit down for a cold snack to recover from both the drive, setting back up, and just chilling out in the AC and catching up on my shows.

Yes we have invested in a gen 3 unit. We started having some serious disconition issues at the worst possible time for Yappys work. So fr we have had no more down time issues and the speeds are well over 200 most of the time. I am happy to report that they have a different cable on the gen 3 that is much easier to work with. I willl be using the older unit for security purposes here at Tranquility base.

Would love to hear more about the bluebonnets. We are starting our own homestead in east Texas and my wife loves bluebonnets. She wants to plant some in our front “yard” and the ditch area. Every year we make a trip to visit places just to look at the bluebonnets. Thanks for the content. 8:02

The growth from the plugs in the long run always seemed healthier to me . Going to have to get some of those blue bonnets seeds for my front. Don’t know if they would grow though for the oak trees. Not much ground growth. Hope you don’t have flys like we do up here
@thervhomesteadTexas2 ай бұрын
The flys are BAD! I am coming up with all kinds of fly solutions and few are working!LOL!😡 I have never done the plugs but they really seem to be taking off. You need a solid 4 to 5 hours of direct sun for the blue bonnets. Although I have seen some in State parks out your way that were doing quite well in partial shade. Thanks for watching!

And I'm poking you a little by telling you the cowboys were all laughing when you said you could flip the whole thing. 🤠 Cooking on the lid alone upside down might be cool though.

That would have been a very deep den! We moved at least 5 ft of soil to build the house pad! I am not sure how much was moved to build the road, what I do know is that when I got down to moving and filling with the tractor those two areas were like driving on jello. very springy, very freaky driving on the surface!
@CampingFamily2 ай бұрын
Wow that is some serious erosion your neighbor has there. Can't imagine the labor and money to fix that. Those holes you have are odd. I didn't see any tracks or signs of regular use by animals. I wonder if it's erosion related as well. Might be pockets of sand or soil not as dense as the surrounding and is washing away. Sure would be interesting to know exactly what those are.
@thervhomesteadTexas2 ай бұрын
After the last rain two days ago there was another two feet of sand on the road. My poor neighbor is throwing money away working with that contractor!

Gophers and / or moles. Water washed it out bigger with the unusual rain. Tree roots would be lower. It happens at my place too. Lpwes carries a yellow bag of mole and gopher repellent. I scattwr it aroundtwice a year and tbey go somewhere else. You'll never get rid of all of them. . Use repellent and send them down the road
@thervhomesteadTexas2 ай бұрын
Both areas were graded down by several feet, especially in the last shot. We pulled soil from there to build the house pad. A fella stopped by yesterday and he thought it was because of the harvester ants. I really think it is rotted away pine roots.

Homestead is really starting to show progress! Exciting that you're receiving mail there now. Makes it official. Coming up with ways to fight the sand sounds challenging. The plastic pallets seem to be a great idea. How long will it be before you're ready to actually break ground on building the house? Stay cool and hydrated as this Texas heat starts building up.

That is a really great question and I wish I had a really good answer! Still keeping a close eye on my buddy who we've been nursing for the past 3 months... I got a nurse hired to watch him while we're gone... she's too cute and not near as mean as me, so he might like the break from ol Sarge!
