Very elegant car Tim, which leads me to say, shouldnt you leave the exhaust as is? Its not a ferrari and as such, it doesnt need to shout🤷‍♂️ Good to see you have the manual , a friend of mine has an 05 db9 with auto box and the changes are so slow you could count them on an hour glass! As cool as the 993 is, the 996 chassis was a quantum leap forward. I love the turbo -- it's a car which has genuine "classic car" feel to it -- it's alive, mechanical, visceral -- with performance that's still VERY relevant today. Super usable, very reliable. While I can dig an early 997 with no nav and no sport chrono, I genuinely prefer the more basic 996 interior.

Duo select trans is not the problem, it's the electronic when driven in automatic mode ,simply is not fast enough for F1 transmission so the clutch slips too much, but driven in manually it can last for ever ,that's what people say in Europe it was made for to be driven this way. There is a company called Formula electronics that makes bypass modules ( drive by wire) that improve the automatic mode drive way better for the clutch.

I think all 996's are great Porsche's and very underrated. I was fortunate to own a 996.1 GT3 with a few minor modifications (exhaust, re-map giving just under 400 horsepower and some after market dampers and suspension optimized for track work) and was by far the best car I've owned. I had it for 12 years which tells you how much I loved it. I think you guys in the US got the 996.2 GT3 but not the 996.1. I think an early 996.1 such as this with sports suspension and a sports exhaust is a great buy. I owned a classic '89 3.2 Carerra Sport prior to the GT3 and have driven a couple of 964's but having never driven a 993. 993's to me are great looking cars but I feel they are too expensive for what they are. My dad passed away and left a '97 Quattroporte. It's been hooked up to a device that is supposed to keep the battery juiced up/healthy. Thing is, nothing happens when I turn the ignition? No lights no nothing. I know it's been working fine and it's in seemingly great condition. Any ideas? Do you have to do anything more than just turn the ignition? There's some kind of remote on the same key ring as the key that has an on and off button. Tried pushing ON obviously but I don't know what it does. Thanks 🙏

So interestingly, I have had a very similar issue. Mine managed to kill its battery while on the tender. I didn’t drive it for 8 months. Replaced the battery, fired right up HOWEVER, I now have a misfire and a dead climate control unit (I suspect the latter was already failing) so I have a bit of work today. These are from the cantankerous Maserati era but they are pretty straight forward to work on

@@TimsEnthusiastGarage it was a very stupid thing. Main power was off (wasn't aware of that lol) and I found the little remote for turning off the theft alarm. Then it started up fine :) On a nice drive now. Fun car

@@TimsEnthusiastGarage excellent until I found out at the gas station that the lid wouldn't open and that the button for opening the lid would get stuck inside the panel. Damn, gotta figure this out :P but, yeah, fun car
