Ali speak nonsense. Most of the technic and tactics was created by players that came from steve era. Well they just can create it but maybe have no time to master it. Player that came after that just copy all that and master it. Plus the equipment especially cue technology was upgraded. That’s why u can see the increasing of stat for player nowadays. Plus player in 70s 80s playing snooker while they drinking and smoking. How can u play well during high?

Problem with shows like this the panel are to easy to please "Blow me away, unberlieverble and amazing" just a few of many comments that no way reflect the ability of the horse or it's performance. All the talk about City Of Troy being on a par with Frankel, those who believe that should refrain from appearing on shows like this. I'm looking forward to Ascot alas the numerous podcasts and shows like this that spout the same predictable comments won't be on my watch list.

Ascot is always the proper kick start to the season, proper form lines are brought to the table and everybody is going there to win. Plus you get great prices for some top horses as the competition is so good. My favourite meeting of the year from a punting point of view.

For the people who are just tuning into this podcast. Everyone is introduced by the little guy in the beard and glasses but he fails to tell us his name? Is he that famous, he assumes we all know who he is?

I’ve always wanted to have a similar build up to Royal Ascot as we’ve developed with the Cheltenham Festival but realistically that puts the Derby at more risk with the two being so close. The Derby needs it more than Royal Ascot does. What we need is to introduce a similar build up to the Kentucky Derby where we have more stable visits, more interviews, more opinions weeks, or better, months in advance of the event. I know he never ran in the Derby but I’d give up a lot to be able to have seen Frankel go up the gallops more, and see how he developed from 2-3. I refer to Frankel because we need to get as excited about our Derby horses as we did with him, the Derby is all about potential and that’s what needs to captivate our audiences. Allow us to familiarise ourselves with entrants by visiting stables and covering the horses they’re most looking forward to with big flat targets, paying particular attention to their possible Classic contenders. It’s easier with jumpers because we might be seeing them for six or seven seasons, which allows us to gain some kind of affection for horses but these younger animals are so unexposed that you don’t really have enough time to grow that affection for them, at least making it harder for those looking in from outside the sport. In recent years these top class horses are retired after maybe three seasons but of those the better horses may be retired even sooner than that to protect their commercial value. Id happily do these stable visits, interviews, discussions and previews, would be fascinating.

I have a slightly different take on this. The big problem flat racing has compared with jumps right now, flat racing is hard to win at. Royal Ascot is so competitive , it means it’s difficult for punters to find winners at. Now if you look at jumps, every season in the last decade has seen numerous novice aeroplanes or established great horses win big races. Good punters care about value, majority of punters just want winners. If you follow Nicholls/Henderson/Skelton hype horses in England, then Mullins/Elliott hype horses in Ireland, you will find loads of winners. If the average punter is feeling the winning experience far more, it’s builds a narrative and interest which leads through the season up to the festival on March, which has also become easy to follow the front of market and find winners. Flat racing does not have this, cos it’s harder work and you need more knowledge to succeed in it. There is a pool of about 30-40 trainers who can all have group horses on the flat. There is about 8-9 over the jumps. Flat racing suffers because moderate punters cannot win as often as they can over jumps.

All you guys who have absolutely RIDICULED and laughed at Aiden O'Brien for things he was telling you went wrong with CITY OF TROY. He sorted out what went wrong in the gns and what happened, he wins the Derby. Not only that, it was two years in a row with August Rodin last year and got got him back to win. Especially the little guy with the goatee, tape measure jokes everytime he could get it in and GC as well for his remarks after the 2,000gns. I thought not only all you pundits/tipsters but everyone in the racing podcasts should be ashamed of the what they said about the greatest trainer in the world. Normally, he would be celebrated but he has one major flaw with all of you English pundits. HE'S IRISH! If it happened to Appleby, would he have been treated like Aiden, absolutely not. They say mud sticks but it didint stick to him in a certain period of his life and we know what that was. Very disgusted by all of you.

We forget sometimes how long Steve Davis played snooker. To my mind, a young Davis would have loved the conditions of today and would have thrived. He had an all round brutal game and extremely high IQ for the game, like a Chess master. I think it's fair to say that Ronnie is the king when it comes to snooker, to me, he's been the best at adapting to conditions. Furthermore, he's prepared to change hence why he's so good, even now today at his age. Another brilliant player to add to the top five would have been Jimmy White. I mean, just because he never picked up the world's trophy doesn't mean he shouldn't be in the top 5. Further, he like Steve Davis, a young Jimmy would have adapted to today conditions real well. So far, I would pick Ronnie, Steve Davis and then Jimmy White... after that, the merciless Stephen Hendry and finally, in 5th spot, Shaun Murphy who to my mind is best underachiever in the game... if this cat just got it together, he would be scary. Nonetheless, he's for sure the best player to watch although Ronnie is a close second. That's my top 5.

Who’s keeping faith with Aidan. He wouldn’t be in race with RM riding if he didn’t have a good chance of winning. If he runs anywhere near 2 year old form he win’s easily. Tough one though. I’m still deciding as I like Dancing Gemini aswell.

I agree with Murphy about comparing generations. People often forget that the tables the guys in the 70s and 80s played on are like the average club table today, and how often do we see videos of current pros playing on average club tables and complaining they can't get the spin they need, miss shots etc. Give the 70s/80s players the pro tables and cues of today and see how they do.
