Diane can you make your version of the “magnetic running buddy” bag with magnetic flap in the back . my sister has one it looks like the double pouch inside but also has a fold over magnetic flap in the back ..I thought hmm I should ask Diane if she can make a tutorial. It’s nice for those of us that walk / run and don’t want a bag bouncing around their waist 🙂. I haven’t see a tutorial on it anywhere

Have you used a metal zip
@SpencerOgg
@SpencerOgg 3 күн бұрын
No, its a metal look nylon coil zip. Try to avoid sewing over metal zips where possible :) Nylon coil zips are great for bag making, look for number 5 for outers and number 3 for linings in general

How would one use this idea, but on a solid, one piece of material, by folding over the edges to create the skirt? Or is it just better to cut the material, only to have to sew it back to the same area where I cut it from? I'm making a basic rectangle canopy for a little wagon for our doggie. LOL
@SpencerOgg
@SpencerOgg 8 күн бұрын
You can use the method shown in this video with separate sides for a proper fitted cover (and save on fabric) or you can use one piece and, as you say, just fold the fabric down and stitch diagonal corners which would be a quicker and simpler method. Both will work :)

what an incredible video! I was curious as to which fabrics I can use... and if I can use the ones I have at home already (mostly quilt cotton). The only question I have is... if I am buying woven fabrics, should I pre-wash these before using them to make bags? It's not necessarily so I can wash the bags later on since I probably won't throw them into the laundry- except my grocery/shopping bags. But more for pre-shrinking it in case the fabric gets wet somehow. Thank you again for this brilliant video!
@SpencerOgg
@SpencerOgg 19 күн бұрын
there are a few different views on this, but personally I never feel a fabric looks quite as crisp after washing and I never pre-wash. I do however steam fabrics quite heavily before cutting out to pre-shrink them
@bccabernet

The silicone end makes a great stitch eraser for the little bits of thread when ripping out stitches. It grabs the little bits and pulls them away from the holes in the seam line.
