I really enjoyed reading these chapters. I was trying to work out why and then I realised that it’s because of the lessons. It makes me feel like I’m back at school and I so enjoyed learning! I know I’m a geek but it’s ok I’m good with that. I would so love to go to Hogwarts and just attend all the lessons. I would love the history lessons but not the way Professor Binns teaches them. I think the lessons are being described as getting more important and homework increasing because in the UK we start studying for our ‘OWLS’ the year before we take them, so in Year 4 of secondary school, the same thing would be happening. I was fascinated by your earrings in the video Aubrey. I couldn’t take my eyes off them 👀👀👀

I love this box!! As soon as I saw that clown I knew I had to try and get it into my collection. I have the boggart wardrobe so that would sit really well next to it. It is bigger but the clown in the film is portrayed as massive so I think it would fit. Love the shop pin and will be interested to see the future ones and how they display them. Death day party T-shirt is a bit of me and I may have to purchase that also! Love you background decorations. As someone else mentioned, we don’t get into Halloween as much in the UK, although we are getting more stuff. I really liked the tea light holder as well as we would probably struggle to get similar in the UK. Oh this is going to cost me some coin 😂😂😂

Hi Witchy Pal! That clown is staying in his closet! You could make a closet for your bogart! I tried one of the candies! They fizzle in the mouth and are citrus flavored. Danny has put a how-to video about the haunted deck on KZfaq! If a kid came back with that bag full of candy, they would be set for the entire next year. I do not appreciate the post cards. There is a forth "W" potion. The portable swamp is also a Witershins item. The Jac-o-lantern is my favorite item. I will give away the T/T bag on the day if some kid has a situation. I liked the pin. Am waiting to see what they do with the upcoming collection.

Ooooh, I love the Halloween additions to your background! Particularly the jack o lantern and the mesh "web!" I also liked this box more than most - I liked pretty much everything minus the two candy items. The boggart clown wouldn't fit in with my decor, but it is really cool! Maybe you can find a spot for it on your big bookshelf display? Or tucked away creepily in a reading nook? ;)

I’m powering through these videos 😂 Loved this discussion and I’m pretty much in agreement on most things. It’s so exciting to think of all these chapters being portrayed properly! Then we have the Percy thing 😂 I completely agree that he is an arse and so different to everyone else in his family, but I think that’s what strikes a chord with me. He sticks out as different and he is probably aware that he doesn’t fit in at home. He’s very rule oriented and wants to do well at work. Maybe he’s a people pleaser (at work). He has a slight obsession/infatuation with Crouch who he sees as his goal in life. We can see that Crouch is flawed but by official standards he is successful. I don’t agree with Percy’s opinions or future actions but because I have, what I sometimes think of as a flaw, of always trying to find the best in people, then I can’t help but feel a little sorry for him. The opinions on House Elves is a good example as he is unable to empathise with them but can only see them from a societal, rule bound perspective. Hermione has a similar rule bound perspective to Percy and would understand his need to be successful and to work hard towards those goals. Where she differs is her ability to empathise and think about the needs of others- especially if those others are perceived as less than. I find this fascinating as I am a little rule obsessed myself and get all kinds of anxiety if people around me don’t follow the rules 😂 I also don’t quite understand Matt’s issues with JK using guns, bombs etc in her descriptions - I guess we are just expected to use our imagination to try and understand how it would feel to be there when a bomb exploded, in the same way we would have to imagine how it would feel to fly on a broomstick. Also I don’t think fireworks would conjure up that feeling of complete terror that JK was trying to convey during the attack on the Robert’s family. I’m not sure why JK uses this type of analogy so often but I wonder if it’s to do with the time that she was writing and the decade of attacks that had happened previously in the UK. We don’t tend to see guns in the UK very often as the majority of people don’t own them and our police don’t carry them on a day to day basis. JK may have used them as examples without really knowing that much about them so maybe there’s some naivety there about their impact. Anyway great discussion as always and apologies if I rambled too much 😂😂😂

Although I always think of GoF as one of my least favourite books and definitely least favourite film, I am enjoying the background of all the characters that we have already seen in the first few chapters. Everyone has much sharper and more interesting personalities than we ever see in the films. This, for me, is the first book that got really mugged off by the films and it’s always the bits they missed out that I love the most. That’s why I’m so excited for the series to see all the scenes where we really learn about the Weasleys and more about Harry’s home life. I’ve always wanted to have more information about Tom Riddle’s life and background but unless we go into fanfic I don’t think we will ever get it! We will get into the whole Winky and SPEW backstory soon so I won’t go into that now but I’m excited to see all that. Again, apologies about being late to the party but I’m playing catch up now with the book club videos.

I really want to mention S.P.E.W. and what Hermoine said "Dobby coming to work here, I mean. The other elves will see how happy he is, being free, and slowly it'll dawn on them that they want it too!" (p. 383 para. 3) That was pretty presumptuous of Hermoine to assume what the elves really want. She is so convinced that "no, no. You are not really happy. I know better than you want you really want." Reminds me of real life manipulative relationships, gaslighting, and such where one person tries to confuse the other and cause them to question themselves. I'm not comparing Hermoine to real life abusive relationships though LOL. Of course she is not that! She is just idealized youth with a vigor that she knows so well what is right and what is wrong. She is still to young to understand that not everything is so black and white and not everything has an easy answer. FYI- I realize you guys have probably already talked about SPEW in previous videos, but I have only seen last weeks video and now this one. Today is the first time where I am actually joining the book club.

As far as why does Harry wait so many weeks to ask Cho out when he's constantly being reminded with all those girls? Well, remember he's only 14, and a lot of 14 year olds are afraid of girls. So, it makes sense. Shoot! I know some grown-butt men in their 30's and 40's who are too afraid to ask women out LOL! I really liked in the movie how they kinda made Neville shine at the ball. It was still kinda quirky and funny the way he was such a good dancer (Ron and Harry catching him practice dancing in his room) but then Neville getting back in the wee hours of the morning from the ball and Neville being proud of it. Neville is that goofy underdog that is an easy target for bullies, and I think this was the first time in the films that he started coming out as someone not to underestimate. In the book Neville wasn't portrayed like this yet. He was still that goofy awkward kid who was stepping on Ginny's toes during dancing.

My Grandparents had teacozies and I bet Molly has a whole stash of handknitted ones. It would be a fun Burrow replica to do . I'm sure there must be one in The Burrow set at the studio tour - I want to scan the photos now haha It has always dissappointed me that we only get one Dragon in the film , it would've been great to see them all!. Recently, I've learned that the creature creators did sculpt all four dragons in Big scale but that the other 3 were not used and therefore discarded much to the chagrin of the sculptor. I know this as my work collegue's daughter is friends with the chap who created them . He also sculpted Werewolf Lupin. The Thestral and some Cornish pixies which were used for the CG work . I remember when I first read Goblet , that I liked all the fun of the 'teenage angst ' / Yule Ball shenanagins 😆It seems silly now but it was a lot worse and cringey at my muggle school at that age.- in the mid eighties . Looking back I can say now that it was horrible being 13/14 UGH and I'm so glad that I don't have to go through that awkward stage again. Talk about magic, I just literally bought a leprechaun figure from Amazon! From the horror film, and it's because I write Flitwick as half leprechaun long story short but I now probably need the print for the wall. gr. I agree, Halloween and potions go hand in hand. I’m a collector of replicas. I don’t do funkos or Lego as I just don’t have the room. Due to my wedding I’ve done very little collecting this year and I’ve kinda run out of space so I’m being very picky about what I buy from now on. My only downfall is books and I just can’t resist any HP books that are released!!

I don't collect a lot, mainly because of space and finances. I do have a shelf in my secretary of potions I made when going through chemo 7 years ago. I had discovered KZfaq and a Harry Potter creator who did that. That shelf brings me joy every time I look at it! Would love to get the Enchantor magazines, but at 66 am on a fixed income. I'm a reader so I do have the books and other special volumes. That's enough to keep me happy. Especially when I can look at everyone else's stuff via KZfaq. All the best from Missouri.

I love collecting! Ive had to slow down my collecting as I got older and now I'm on the other side doing swedish death cleaning but I love watching you world build.

I am a collector too and embrace the same focus on collecting as you do. I discovered that the term I decorate in as Dark Academia before it was even given that term. When I decided to create a Harry Potter theme in my bedroom (which I don't use as my bedroom), I had seen what everyone else was doing and collecting and I had very little space because I have other things I collect that were also in my bedroom/other room. I am not into Honeydukes, the Dark Arts, Dementors, Weasleys' Joke Shop and other things that people seem to go crazy about. My focus is replicas, Funko Pops of the characters and buildings, some wands, a broom stick, tapestries and collecting what you expect to see at Hogwarts or in the magical world. Every Halloween I look for potion bottles, old books, cauldron and anything that fits either Dark Academia or the Potter World. This year I bought a vintage looking three book book box from Home Goods, the bubbling cauldron drink dispenser from Dollar Tree- the dispenser spout comes off easily and the two sets of vintage book boxes and the ink well with quill from Michael's. I will be moving to a new apartment in 2026 and my intention is to use the bedroom as a Harry Potter/Dark Academia theme room, but really have fun with it by painting the walls and setting it up like you walked into that magical world. The vibe will be dark (hunter green walls), vintage looking and replicas all over the room with a fake stone fireplace and a lot of candles. Basically take what I have and kick it up a few notches. I want to make it an adult version of the magical world. I too have been attacked because I made the mistake of stating that I was only interested in replicas in crate boxes. Why do I have to follow the herd? I have a vision of what I want and I don't want or need what everyone else seems to want. You do you!

That's a really good distinction; you can like something, but realize it doesn't fit in with your theme or goals. I'm still developing that skill (the ability to edit). It can be hard to walk away from things you like :P Those are some cool earrings!

Love this set, and I loved building it! I was dying for Lego to make another one for almost a decade 😂. They had one in 2012, but it was so expensive on the aftermarket. There was also so many people asking for it, so I knew it was just a matter of time. Now I'm super excited for the ucs Burrow for back to Hogwarts and the Malfoy Manner in January! ❤

I really like book club! I used to run one myself for years but I've been so busy it's been hard to read anything. Maybe I will get the Harry Potter books and follow along as a couple chapters a week isn't to bad. Also, a few years back my library ran a Harry Potter book club. Seven books in seven weeks. A meeting a week. I was able to read a few of the books, audio listen to a few, and skip a few, but I attended all seven meetings. One thing I learned after the event was how much more I appreciated the series. Last I read them I was a teenager and I didn't pick up on all the subtleties Rowlings put in her books. They actually had a lot of depth to them and I respected the books and author much more after the reread.

About nearly fell out of my seat when I heard the ticket price. Lego's are expensive... but this was really cool.
